TWO DEAD, ONE INJURED IN PARKING LOT SHOOTING: A shooting in a Concord supermarket parking lot Sunday night left two men dead and one injured, police said.
Around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in a Safeway parking lot, 4309 Clayton Road, Concord police Sgt. Matt Morrissey said. Officers found a car a short distance away with three shooting victims inside. Two were dead in the car and the third was taken to John Muir Medical Center, he said.
Witnesses told police the men were in a physical confrontation shortly before shots were fired in the Safeway parking lot, Morrissey said. The victims then got into their blue Cadillac and drove erratically through the parking lot, striking a parked Honda, he said.
The car turned onto Denkinger Road and eventually stopped a few blocks away, in front of a house at Mendocino Drive and Sacramento Street, Morrissey said.
Investigators collected shell casings from the parking lot, he said.
No suspect descriptions were available, police said.
