you need a box, or an antenna/dish.

especially now with the transition to DTV (digital tv broadcasting)

so you need a converter box if your shits analog and you dont have any cable or satellite service.

hmm... i think it depends on the tv. cuz i had basic basic cable last year, but a new tv and i would get access to some ppv channels, but halfway thru a movie they would freeze or some weird shit like that. i would also get espn half the time. it depended on what the cable gods bestowed upon me that day i guess. but i did that auto shit too.

no man there is nothing but the cable hooked into the back of the tv. the tv shows channels 106.1 106.4 (ect) dude bought a 50 inch tv from some girl for a good price its a samsung, i didnt believe them at first. the tv was playin the new hulk, the new indy and all the PPV channels . so i was tryin to see if a tv can be modded, i was stunned that the tv had everything with no box

Its similar to HD radio shit

HD-enabled TVs can pick up more channels

If you really know your shit you can give yourself free cable for life

It just involves getting up on the telephone pole and fucking with something

nah you dont fuck with the telephone pole for shit, signals in the bay come from 4 sources one in oakland/alameda county area, the other from sutro tower (big tower with the lights in twin peaks) and the other one in san jose, and one in san bruno mountain area.

Thats why when u got an HD antenna you want the least obstructions as possible.

Its just a matter of getting an antenna and setting it up on your roof to get them channels, another way is to get someone working for comcast or w/e company you like, to hook you up with some filters for your box.. make sure they always on or else youll have alot of dues lol.

Ok I just bought a LCD and the secret is if it has a digital tuner you can watch what people are watching on demand and you also get some of the other high def and premium channels. Just put the cable straight in the tv and let the tuner detect which channels work. Flip through some of the higher channels and you will see movies from peyperview or HBO and a bunch of channels. Comcast just doesn't encrypt all of their stuff so you can get it for free its called Clear QAM. The funny thing is you will be sitting and watching a movie or show and all of the sudden it will start fast forwarding or a movie might stop in the middle. A bunch of channels will come up that have nothing on them but that just means they aren't being used at the time and it might have something on it later. I was just watching Howard Stern the other day for free but its just kind of random sometimes you get lucky and something good is on other times it is just a bunch of bull shit but hey its free.

It also changes from area to area like I don't get ESPN in HD like the one guy said but I do get the Sacramento Fox station and a few other HD channels and some of the channels are always on and some come and go. The ones that come and go are ondemand or payperview.

Sounds like they usin a splitter. I don't think televisions have that capability yet.
What do you mean? I just have the cable plugged straight into my tv if I wanted to use the box also I would need to split the cable signal so that it went to the box and tv but they would still be on different inputs and you can't record the PPV and one demand channels.

Fuck I should mess with my tv. I only had fucked with the tuner for like 5 minutes when I switched my cable over to my lcd, the OTA HD channels were clear as fuck though.
