The ashes of Tupac Shakur are to be taken to Africa by his mother, on the 10th anniversary of the rapper's death, where she will meet Nelson Mandela.

Afeni Shakur is planning to travel to Soweto in South Africa next month for a week-long visit. Along with her son's ashes, Afeni is taking Tupac's sister, Gloria Cox,and her daughter, Set Shakur,on the trip, which along with the Mandela meeting will also feature a tour of South African hospitals and orphanages.

Speaking about meeting Mandela, Afeni said: "I feel blessed to be able to visit South Africa, especially Soweto. Events that happened there are so much a part of our history and it will be an honor for my son to rest in this special place--the birthplace of the South African struggle for democracy.

"Nelson Mandela's contribution to the people of South Africa has been immeasurable and I look forward to helping with his work all over the country."

how come i seen tupacs mom on a documentary saying she spread tupacs ashes on a private beach in malibu with other death row artsists? they said they threw flowers and jewelry in the ocean with his ashes???

edit: tragedy i heard that too...maybe she "poured a little out for the homies"....??? and not all of it?

yeah!!! I have hella tupac movies.. I think it was on Thug Angel.. they showed the beach and how they had a festival and everything and spread the ashes on the ocean along with other things.

i knew i was'nt trippen yall make sense though pac came from many soils maybe the mom kept most of his ashes for herself and things like this.

He was 25 years old. The official cause of death was respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. After his death, Shakur's body was cremated. Family and friends reportedly spread his ashes over the Pacific Ocean near Los Angeles, California.

that's what it says in wikipedia
so what's afeni talkin about?

i think part of the controversy about pac's death right after he died (r.i.p) was that he got creamated like hella quick after he was pronoucned dead... like quicker than most and before the investigation/autopsy was even really complete.
i could be wrong tho.

sometimes when people are cremated, their ashes are spread in several locations. maybe she put some in the ocean in Cali, and being the very proud african american woman that she is, it would only make sense that she would also wanna return some part of PAC to the mother land. or if that theory is wrong, maybe she knew by saying that she was taking Pac's ashes to Africa, it would be picked up by all the major media outlets. either way, RIP MAKAVELI
