My only problem with Kalico is that Strange overuses him on all their projects. Absolute Power, Urban Legendz, and BLEVE. Otherwise, I think he's one of the most overall talented artists to ever come out of KC. And even though I hear him too much I still think he comes tight on about every track I hear, mostly cuz they don't necessarily sound the same. He's so versatile maybe they think it doesn't matter. I've heard shit thats straight RnB to rockish to more Opera sounding material to Reggae almost Wyclefish to vocal blowing anthems. So I agree, Kalico is the shit...I don't understand where most peeps are coming from either. I wait the arrival of Funkra and hopefully its everything I think it'll be.

Hold up...

Now JLMACN, you said that he's not better that Nate dogg, and you've only heard like 3 styles from Kalico... But in all actuality, we only hear "ONE" style from Nate Dogg... So Nate Dogg wont ever be a Kalico. Think about it. Snoop, Bad Azz, Daz, Kurupt, Warren G, and all those people have used him (Nate) over and over and over and over and over... So when it comes to Big Krizz, it's a major problem for him to do reggae, opera, funk, r&b, to actually enhance a song when Nate can't do that??? I was just rolling the other day with my homie and we heard this song on the radio with Snoop and them, and it was on the whole time we were talking, but we didn't actually hear nor notice the song playing cause we were talking. The second the song ended we were like, man Nate Dogg isn't even interesting anymore, Nate Dogg does the same ol' boring hooks time after time.

So when it comes to Big Krizz, we know that he has like 9 different sounds and shit, and we "expect" that out of him all the time, but we cant say that, when and if Kalico blow's, people wont be like damned, he's the new hook man, Kalico is mind blowing and we all know it, Nate isn't. Nate dogg is out of here. He's not that ill to me anymore... So you'd rather buy a Nate album over Big Krizz???

Aarondontezgr8t, Nate didn't invent the style that we call "HOOKS" buddy, Kalico is no where near biting Nate. Nate dogg was prolly the first person stuck mainly as a hook man if that's what you mean. But it doesn't stop there...

we'll just see here in a year when the albulm drops and see how kriz does.
we do only here the hooks, and that shit does sound tight, even though he is in almost every song, a few im surprised once i figure out that its him singin. i was listen to heart and soul for months before they did it in concert and had no idea that was krizz on the hook. some songs he sounds the same, but others he switches that shit up.

i don't like the metal sound too much i like the singing shit on Imma playa when he's in hot prusuit of a prost. shit like that. you might compare kaliko to Big Moe instead of Nate Dog. that's who he could sound more like at times. They should Collab

No, he didn't invent "hooks" and that's not what I implied. But, he did invent G-funk. He made it cool for "gangstas" to sing.

Maszive .....like i said....
Id rather hear one (great) style from...krizz....(just like Nate)....than 3 bad ones...
over and over...
.....

i totally agree with AaronD......Nate made it coo for gangstaz to sing....i listen to the tracks that nate is on....and...all i can say...is that...he has done alot of classic work.........same style TRUE!!....but...mayne...he makes those cuts what they are....
....even whack ass songs...like this...."i like that"- houston...

mayne....the beat is coo....but that Nate hook is soooo dope........
....thats the only reason why i can even listen to that song...

ya know....i aint heard a song that krizz has done that with.....i think he tries to be over creative....sometimes...

plus Nate dont really ever try to rap....which i think Krizz should just let go....cuase it aint happenin for him on that note..

5000

oh BTW....i think it was you that told me a while back that you listen to DSR....from houston....you gettin that Big Tuck-Purple hulk......when it drops next week?
it should be dope....

I'm kinda torn here b/c I think that Kaliko really MAKES Strange Music... he is so multi-talented... but I'm also kinda tired of hearing him in every song... for me, it kinda goes with Tech too... It kinda makes the thrill of their albums comming out not so thrilling to hear them on every track on everyone else's shit...

I mean NO OFFENSE to any of the Strange family, but originality is my biggest thing and having Tech on every track and Kaliko doing every hook aint original anymore and I KNOW Kutt and SS have it!

Bottom line is NOONE can be perfect and no artist can please everyone... and in all reality it's dumb to compare Kaliko to Nate at all b/c Kaliko is sooo much more than a hook man!!! Kaliko's everything and is everywhere!!!! << The man needs to take a fucking break before he kills himself... I think Tech n Trav should send him on a vacation..."beautiful... just like Acapulco" :)>> He is by far one of the most talented people I've ever heard... just b/c he is not just one sound and style... his diversity is what makes him.

I feel ya JL when you say that, but dont you think that we are trying to liberate the poor guy because he's multi-talented and the fact that he wants to be innovative and do some creative shit.

I dont neccesarily think that any of his 'voices' are bad, just that we are kinda turned off to the fact that he is on 27 of 29 songs and it doesn't force Tech and them to use their voices and do the hooks like we all are missing from Tech, but they all work together on the hook, it just Kalico that is doing them...
