I actually sampled it from a Gypsy Kings song. Like I said, it's one of my first attempts at "sampling" in a very long time. So no, I didn't get this sample from a sample CD, otherwise I wouldn't be sampling it myself. I really don't know what your trying to say about it lacking the ability to move you. I don't know if you can tell, but I was going more for an underground EastCoast type beat, not WestCoast G-Funk. I wouldn't even consider it dancable if that's what your trying to say. It's just a chill listening beat, as you can tell by the guitar sample. Of course it needs a rapper which will add a bit more. BTW, what's wrong with DJ Premiere?
booboo maybe he's talking about the fact that its so structured, its not musical. like its just constant loops taken in & out. like that was guitar loop with piano loop over drum loop and the string loop comes in 4 bars then out for 4 bars, rinse, repeat....or maybe I'm just gathering that because that's kinda what my suggestion was

I like Ski's beats. As far as sampling goes...in my opinion what impresses me about sampling is when someone flips it so much that I can't even tell what the original sample was. I guess I mean just taking the elements of the original to make it your own.

I mean...don't get me wrong...old school music...especially old soul...is the shit, even on its own...so of course when I hear it (granted that I'm feeling the original), even looped...I'm going to feel it.

For example...on the All About The Benjamins - Biggie song...I love how Puff used the straight loop of the J5 'Its Great To Be Here' for Biggie's verse...probably because I love the original.

The Chronic is definitely replayed. A lotta the samples are slightly different than the original song. I think some of the samples are better than the original songs. Maybe it's just cuz I usually heard the Dr. Dre versions before the original. For example, Xplosive is a lil different than the original song. The phrasing is different, plus they played a few different notes. And I think it sounds better than the original.

I agree with Sicc Wid It, bringing musical talent is the necessary way to develop the music, and sampling definitely has its place.

50cal, how do you think Booboo coulda made that beat better? im not sure what you're tryna say.

I don't understand what he's trying to say either. He think it sounds chicano, but I think it can be used for whoever. I mean a guitar is a guitar, it's a universal sound, just like the piano. I was going more for an underground EastCoast type sound, more chill, definitely not meant for dancing. I would say it's more of a serious beat and tone.

Yeah I could have done more variations and what not if I wanted to, to make it sound less structured like Defy was saying, but whatever, I think it works the way it is to get the point across. I don't know how anyone can not like that guitar sample, I think it sounds pretty sick.

He ..probably couldn't.. he would have to give someone else the sample haha

and booboo...if it was that sick...then try and sell it for about $500 I mean thats cheap for a sick beat right? It sounds nothing like a underground Eastcoast song.

I joke mostly with the chicano shit, but its time to step it up, I mean I aint perfect or great and most of us can use improvement, but everyone is being nice and not real...If anyone posts music up expect it to be criticized, unless its on point. Ive kept my mouth shut on others who post as well Mac donalds or whatever is $ 2 beat game name is....I mean It is one thing to try and learn..but when you start sellin beats and posting em in all different forums then its time for some truth....and if you selling your beats exclusive for under $100 then keep it real it would be rare that you will hear a hot beat...

Okay.. then what could the other person do to make it better?

I think it sounds like something Immortal Technique could fuck with.. Reminds me of Harlem Streets and You Never Know. What makes those beats better than Booboo's? They don't have too many changes either. Booboo, I don't blame you... Changes are a bitch in FL Studio. The sequencing system is fuckin annoying when it comes to making things flow together and transition. When I make beats with the MPC and Motif, it flows so much better. And it's easier to make transitions. I mean, I don't use the MPC sequencing, I use Pro Tools, but still..

Booboo always says he doesn't really try to sell his beats.

As stated before it needs some variation...the beat needs to be chopped up, instead of a 4 bar loop or whatever it is..so you have more flexibility, maybe even change pitch and tempo up a smidge...there is so much that can be done to a sample,...Sure the guitar sounds great...but it aint enough....mute sample here and there add more instruments over it, such as guitar..bass....

Your acting funny dude, getting too emotional about it. It's just a beat. lol I've already stated that YES, I could have probably added in more varations (IF I WANTED TO) (perhaps sample an additional guitar piece, add-in a more distinctful bassline rather than filtering and using the bass from the guitar sample, change up the drumbeat once in a while), but I didn't because there's no point. I'm not selling the beat, just fucking around and taking a stave at sampling. It took me longer to find something to sample & edit than construct the beat itself. But like I also said, I wanted it to be SIMPLE as fuck, just a drumbeat, that guitar sample, strings and piano here and there. I could careless about creating intense variations, I wanted it as simple as possible. Like City Situation said, it sounds like something Immortal Technique would use. I don't know man, I believe in having shit simple as possible sometimes. Some shit with too many variations sometimes completely changes the vibe or takes away from it.
