You're really sad if you're trying to un-convert him, I would say I do care for his physical well being, but his spiritual well being is more important. That's sad, you believed in Jesus, but because you couldn't accept the fact that his will is done on his time and not yours, you chose not to believe in him anymore. You're a cool cat bro, and you seem like a good man, and a great father from what you told me both in the PMs and the Board, and God BLess you for it. He knows God could have prevented it, but is his faith Diminished?

Bad shit happens to my family, and it hurts. I always used to question God, why, o why not me? Or why just leave us alone, maybe it's a test to see my faith, or a strengthening session. JMACLN, what's your dad's name, so I could pray for him. I don't want to make assumptions, as heresy said it's wrong, but Probably, God just wants you to come back to him. After all you DID believe in him at one time.

Why do believers ALWAYS say "it's a test from God to test my faith" if something terrible happens to them or their loved ones.

Well if you want, and if you have a bible ready James Chapter 1-15. Basically it states that men are tempted by the Devil, and God allows it to test your faith. If you really do believe in God, you have unconditional faith in him, no matter what happens to you, always keep in faith your god.

No, believers do NOT always say, "it's a test from God to test my faith", because I have told J I DON'T know why this is happening to him or his folks. It could be happening because his father did not have the correct diet, is experiencing something hereditary etc.

Allright let me rephrase

"Why do the majority of the believers always say it's a test from God to test my faith" if something terrible happens to them or their loved ones.

I have told J I DON'T know why this is happening to him or his folks. It could be happening because his father did not have the correct diet, is experiencing something hereditary etc.
For me this would be a more logical and rational explination, but then.. where does the God part come in?

Yeah I have a Bible but I'm still not through the old testament but following something blindly so without rational thinking seems ignorant to me (I don't mean this in a harmfull or insulting way) But then again I am not raised to be a religious man.

I'm off to bed!

Going from the all the people who believe in God I know and now Stockton (which I don't know, also said it and even came with a quote from the Bilble)

what was the point of your question, anyway?

The point of the question is you can't say the majority of A always does B. You have no experience with the majority so you can't say what they always do. They could say the reason why you are experiencing this is due to SIN in your life, so that negates the "test of faith" stuff you're talking about.

A yes or no won't work....

Heresy, I don't mean to bud in, one quick question bro, do you think many things that go on in our lives is a test of faith? Yes or no
Yes, but I believe these tests of faith are designed to open our minds, force us to think, and force us to be more accepting and understanding (especially when it comes to the plight of others.) Me going through something and being tested on it will allow me to be more sympathetic to those who have gone through the same thing and FAILED, and it will also allow me to give advice to those who are about to go through it. If you need more clarification just ask, but I don't believe all tests come from the God or evil forces, and I believe a lot of this is a case of making a bed and lying in it.

I wasn't talking about it I was asking a question, I edited the post too but I guess you missed that since we went to another page.

It was easier to ask about the majority at this point instead of asking why a certain percentage of people who believe say this

by the way how do you know the majority doesn't say this?

nyway it's 00.00 local time for me my alarm is set at 5.20, have a nice one.
I'm going to bed!

DAMN I ASKED FOR A YES OR NO WHY O WHY! J/P, I knew you wouldn't resort to a yes or no. Thanks :classic:. I understand so are you saying I'm not sympathetic, wat cho talkin about willis?! Or are you speaking on behalf of those who are Tested in General?

No, I'm simply speaking from my personal experience and convictions. I believe these tests are designed for the reasons previously mentioned, and although thhose reasons may be realistic/actual reasons, that does not mean they are the SOLE reasons. No, I am not saying you are not sympathetic. The fact that you are willing to pray for this mans father is proof of being sympathetic or at least proof of having some concern.
