Ant, I saw you in line. We weren'te that far away. I was only twenty feet from where that one kid almost got run over by the car.
These concerts get bigger and bigger every time. Travis bought out all the tickets in the city and sold them at the venue for $20. They were only $18 at the music stores. That right there is why this guy owns the label. Smart business move. There were about 600 people in that tiny ass place. Last August there was probably about 250-300. and I'm gonna end the "how much does he make off a cd" shit right here. Enough for Hawke to rock a fuckin' crystal Jacob, Tech a platinum wedding band, Kutt some new custom caps(He has caps instead of a grill. OG) and 2 karat pinky ring. Marquette was definately dressed to impress, too.
First on stage was JusDuce. They aren't all that bad, but they're not my favorite. They're a Springfield group of two that sounds like any other white boy/black boy rap combo. They're a hell of a lot better than Section 8, though.
Next on stage was my friend Cazualty and his boy Moine Luke. They probably feel the crowds better than some of the bigs acts, which says a lot for why Tech put this kid on the schedule. He's got a song out called Hydraulics. It's not spectacular by any means, but it'll get your head bobbing.
Dead Celebrity Status was next on stage. I bought their cd. They have a great energy and a good dj. He scratched the Iron Man(Black Sabbath) beat by using a flatline record. It was neat stuff. They put on a great show and showed me great hospitality before, during and after the show. They have a new fan.
Critical Bill stepped up next. I really don't see the draw to this band. You've got a former Bassist for Zug Izland, a DJ Lethal style DJ, a no named guitarist and a poser for a lead singer. I say poser because the last time I saw these guys he was dressed kinda punkish. This time he was decked out in full force Blood shit. He had red everything. Not that I have a problem with red, but he didn't wear that shit before he was signed.
Up next was Subnoize Souljas. That's right, not Potluck. But I'm glad they weren't here because it gave me new music to discover. Whoever started the rumor should be shot, though. Big B and Dirtball from the Kottonmouth Kings, of course. I really didn't feel Big B that much. Plus, he left the stage for a few minutes to let Dirtball shine and came back without a shirt on. I tell you one thing, the guy isn't ashamed of his body. His shit was flapping all over the place on stage. He's got some nice tatt's, though.
Tech was up next. Krizz opened the show with the Christmas beat and his melodic voice. They go into a lot of Everready songs then all of a sudden they did 187 on a Hook, which was cool but unexpected for me. Kutt busted out Whip It about twenty minutes into the set and killed it. That song's gonna be the first to boom outta my new system, lemme tell ya. Tech then did the favorites. I shouldn't have to name them because he plays them at every concert. He gave a shout out to his "juggalo family" which usually starts a "family" chant. I hate that shit anymore. I used to be into it, but now I see kids painted up at the concert and I want to ring their necks. Krizz did "Can I suck your tongue" to a girl that I got into it with at the bar earlier in the evening.
The coolest part of the night was when they played Bout 'ta Bubble.
When Tech says "hyphy" in the song, the tracks loops and they all go hyphy on stage. That was a nice touch. Everybody stopped moshing long enough to go hyphy. Very cool.
When Tech shouts out to Paul Wall they Looned his voice on the track and looped it three times.
They looped the beat with the Ill Bill and Busta shouts, too.
The coolest part of the whole song, for me, was when he mentioned E-40. The moment he mentions 40 the track switched to "Tell Me When To Go" and they did the "Gas, Break, Dip" and went hyphy. It was so unexpected for me that it stood out immediately.
All in all, I had a blast. I got in a few fights with people shoving around, but nothing major ever came of that. My buddy Caz extended me the offer to after party with him, but I was beat up so I bounced. Moine treated me with a ton of respect, which is always the case.
Big Nick showed me love with my camera situation, and the bartender went out of his way to hold my hoodie and find me some batteries.
Yaz(I think it's his name) from DCS, Jose, Dirtball, and the Strange's mic man all showed me great respect and showed some love before and after the concert. These guys are all friends of mine now, and I'm sure to support them in any way I can.
