i dont know, maybe i misunderstood, but i think ti says in this interview that if him "saying the n word, the b word, and the h word in his music is gonna reach out to a kid, and make him put the gun down, put the dope down, and go back to school, then there are gonna be alota niggas, bitches, and hoes in his records." so does he think using those words inspire kids to change their life for the better. someone please tell me i understood him wrong.

its also funny that he approves of don imus being fired because he degraded women with his comment. i dont listen to ti, does he never degrade women?

what rappers do is artistic expression. its a different context than the forum in which Imus said his shit.
thats funny. but i guess if you wanna take that route, are you saying comedy isnt a form of artistic expression? imus is radio host/comedian - he said it to be funny. rappers say bitches, hoes, nappy headed, chicken heads etc....uh i guess to sound cool? or maybe to be funny too, i dont really know. either way if you say ti says it as a form of artistic expression, than the same must be said for imus

im not watching it right now but i believe he said "the b word, the n word, and the h word, i dont know if yall know this but there ARE bitches, niggas and hoes (short applause) in this world and as long as there are, we should be allowed to talk about it" i was talking to some people over myspace about this for the past week so i remember the quote.

IN SHORT, T.I. said that musicians should be allowed freedom of speech.

to kinda reiterate on that point, 50 cent also mentioned that when a rapper is talking about a bitch, or if a rapper says nigga, no one particularly thinks the rapper is talking to them, they understand the rapper is talking about a specific person.

one point id like to make is if we take away the words, new words will make the same decription..sure the word whore or harlot dosent sound like ho, but say it enough and itll have the same meaning.

you cant take away the actions of a human. we'll always have words to describe what we do.

One, what TI says represents himself as an artist, and hes not using a company's airtime/airwaves to do so.

Two, what Imus said has nothing to do with his job, which is my point. TI is an artist, just like all rappers, so they have the ability to say pretty much whatever they want. Imus can say whatever he wants to, but most companys arent gonna allow for him to say it on their shit.

you think a company doesnt control ti? they just arent being pressured to censor him. russel simmons maybe just now is feeling the pressure from his fat bj giving mistress oprah, but rappers like ti use companys airtime/waves all the time. and yes what imus said was part of his job - entertaining / being funny.

dl hughley was on jay leno a few weeks ago and said this:

"They were not hos. But those WERE some nappy headed women…Those were some of the ugliest women I’ve ever seen…When you can dribble a basketball and braid your hair at the same time, that is impressive.”

and the crowd laughed. he also said no matter what you think about imus' comments, nobody has the right to tell you what you can or cannot consider funny.

and the best thing he said to sum it up was (paraphrased):

"thats whats great about being black, we can say whatever racist or offensive things we want without getting in trouble for it. but hey we'll trade with you white people. you can say all the racist and offensive things you want, and we'll have all the power to rule the world."

the thing is, when black people tell those types of jokes...were bieng LAUGHED AT, they arent laughing with us...

thats what mainstream black comedians do, they take touchy situations of african americans and turn it around in a white perspective to get laughs. oj simpson, katrina, etc.

that shits like saying the best thing about bieng black is putting on tap dance shoes, black face paint and a big ass white circle around my mouth and doing silly shit for laughs..

matter fact fuck all the original kings of comedy. that should be given to people like rudy ray moore and redd foxx...

When radio plays his songs, yes he is doing so. When he's doing interviews, he is also doing it.

TI is paid to act a certain way. He's paid to say those words and exploit black people/culture.
one of my favorite things ive heard on this forum

this is such a lame comparison. TI has a label and an audience that appreciates his lyrical content. Imus, on the other hand, does not. That's the difference.
um theres a reason imus was one of the most popular talk radio personalitites in america - an audience that appreciated his talk radio content...which was always offensive, on many occasions far more than his nappy headed ho comment. and the same way ti's label appreciates him for making them money, so did imus' broadcasting corp. no difference

oh yeah, and what did ti mean by his n word b word comment?
