About the Beat?
The Bay Area Mic Pass was produced by Tone Toven.
Tone Toven produces all of the PepsiSmash’s Mic Passes.
He is probably most knowned in the Bay for producing Spice 1’s “Spiceberg Slim” album.
He has also produced for Yo-Yo, Chico and Coolwadda, Korn, Roscoe, Kurupt, Master P’s West Coast Badboys 3, etc.
In addition to that, he is the one who discovered Kurupt (he’s also the one who took Kurupt to Death Row records in the early 90’s and introduced him to Suge, the rest is history!) and Chico and Coolwadda.
About the L.A. Mic Pass and other cities?
Mic Pass started off by finding ordinary people off the street and getting them to freestyle. It involved into getting rap superstars from certain cities to freestyle.
That is why the L.A., Chicago, NY, and Miami Mic Passes have no celeberties on them. (Except for Ms. Toi of Militia appearing on the L.A.one. But that was totally coincidental, as she just happened to be in the shoe store buying shoes when the Mic Pass crew came there).
The only Mic Passes to have rap superstars on them are the Houston and Bay Area mic passes. But from now all of the mic passes will have rap superstars on them.
Other cities are already in progress as we speak. So be sure to check the pepsismash.com site regularly to see when the new mic passes will be posted.
How big is the PepsiSmash Mic Pass?
Mic Pass gets over 4.5 million viewers a month!!!
Other Facts
The L.A. mic pass isn’t garbage. It was one of the first mic passes and just didn’t have no L.A. rap superstars on there like the Bay Area one did. The Bay and L.A. is family, always have been and always will be, and a matter of fact…the Bay Area Mic Pass was put together by IMMENSE ( www.ImmenseOnline.com and www.myspace.com/immenseonline ) who is a rapper from L.A. He’s responsible for all of the artists who appeared on the Bay Area Mic Pass as he personally handpicked all of them and got them to be on there…that’s just how much love and respect L.A. has for the Bay!
Keak the Sneak was supposed to be on there. It’s kind of shaky on why he wasn’t but to the person who put this together, it was a very big surprise that Keak didn’t show up! You’ll have to talk to Keak Da Sneak or someone from his Camp to see what happened because it’s unknowned on why he didn’t show. I heard that his Manager was tripping and that Keak probably had nothing to do with not being there. Anyway Keak is still tight and still cool…We just wished that he was there and would have participated!
As far as who was the tightest? Everyone came hard. But I think Dru Down might have been the hardest, and I will definitely say that he can still spit and that someone needs to sign him ASAP and put his record out because he still got it!!!!
I'VE HEARD RUMORS THAT SOME ARTISTS WAS CUT AND EDITED OUT OF THE BAY AREA MIC PASS. THIS IS UNTRUE. THE BAY AREA MIC PASS IS THE ONLY MIC PASS THAT DIDNT HAVE ANY ARTISTS CUT FROM IT. ALL OF THE OTHER CITIES HAD ARTISTS WHO GOT CUT INCLUDING HOUSTON. BUT WHEN THE BAY AREA MIC PASS WAS BEING EDIT, "THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES" AGREED THAT EVERYONE WAS SO TIGHT AND SO GOOD THAT IT WOULD BE IDIOTIC TO CUT ANYBODY OUT!!!
THEY ALL JUST HAD TOO MUCH RESPECT FOR THE BAY!
THE BAY IS IN THE AREA!!!!
OTHER RUMORS THAT I'VE HEARD THAT SOME OF THE RAPPERS HAD BEEF WITH EACH OTHER. THIS TOO IS UNTRUE. ALL OF THE BAY AREA RAPPERS GOT ALONG AND EVERYTHING WAS PLEASANT. THEY ALL CAME TOGETHER FOR ONE COMMON CAUSE WHICH IS "TO BRING THE BAY AREA BACK" AND THEY ALL SUCCEEDED. BUT THERE WAS BEEF AT THE HOUSTON MIC PASS BETWEEN BUN B AND MIKE JONES. IF YOU LOOK AT THE HOUSTON MIC PASS YOU'LL NOTICED THAT NONE OF THE SWISHA HOUSE RAPPERS WAS ON THERE. NO PAUL WALL AND NO MIKE JONES. SOME BELIEVE THAT THEY DIDNT SPIT BECAUSE OF CHAMILLIONAIRE BEING THERE. THATS UNTRUE. THE REASON THEY DIDNT SPIT IS BECAUSE BUN B AND MIKE JONES IS BEEFING. IT CAME DOWN TO THIS: "IF BUN B RAPS THEN MIKE JONES DONT RAP AND IF MIKE JONES RAP THEN BUN B DONT RAP"...BUT SINCE IT WAS FILMED ON J PRINCE'S RANCH AND SINCE ALL OF
RAP-A-LOT WAS THERE, OF COURSE BUN B ENDED UP SPITTING. BUT GOING BACK TO THE BAY MIC PASS. EVERYONE THERE WAS KICKIN WITH EACH OTHER AND JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME LIKE TRUE BAY AREA BOSSES DO!!!
