I stay away from getting involved in these types of threads because they are petty, but I felt compelled to drop a note-because I feel that this is part of a larger issue beyond FAB. Many of the people on here work supporting Bay Area music, many are dedicated fans of the Bay movement and others are losers that live vicariously through these forum's making commentary on things they cannot grasp (aiming for shock value to rouse folks).

The truth is the Bay Area has struggled over decades to get National shine and for so many reasons than can really be summed up here. It’s a complicated subject-but there are some obvious factors that often hold the Bay back. A major one is the Bay Area music scene is very insulated-artists can be self-sustaining and make a little money out here & so they become complacent to remain "hood stars". FAB has steadily built bases of support across the Country-via fans and networking with other artists. He has a different level of support now than he did when Son of a Pimp came out. Artists from other regions know who he is before they meet, and he is able to be a bridge connecting with areas that have more shine than the Bay does. New York is a major hub of all the major media outlets and they are in tune to the artists that are here. They are tangible and they put themselves out there-hustling at events and doing VIDEO blogs-CONSTANTLY. This feeds the media and they can support the artists by constantly having new content. You may be tired of FAB but there is still a world of opportunity for FAB to get exposure and reach new fans. With each hit he gets it opens another door. He started out with the Murder Dogs & Xplosives and then moved to XXL & VIBE & then he received exposure in the Washington Post and Fox News, his placements get more mainstream with each year and that is a major accomplishment.

So knowing the Bay’s track record, he needs as much name recognition and familiarity as he can before his National release is out (is he supposed to remain silent because he is in purgatory via the tediousness that is releasing on a major label). On top of everything he has to work twice as hard without the support of his regional radio station. He has the street support as well as the support of the new era of music—the internet. This is the formula of success at the moment.

On top of all this his heart is with his community from performing at high school rallies to giving money out of his pocket for thanksgiving turkeys and clothing for young people that look up to him—he has given back to his community and not just Oakland but all of the Bay Area. For that alone he deserves respect-he does it when there are cameras and when there are not. He is a true ambassador for our region speaking with intelligence and passion on the richness of our music/cultural scene and social injustices that fester there.

So I suppose when people stop talking about FAB that’s when he should be worried, but the Bay needs to support its own and understand that new ideas and openness could bring new success and THAT doesn’t just help FAB, it helps everyone. If anyone is carrying the Bay on his back—its him.
And we must remember we almost lost Fab,and his brothers to a car crash like Cougnut(rip),and Rappin Ron(rip) so if anything we all as a whole should
be on here giving Fab,and his folks inspirational, and uplifting words regradless if you feeling his grind or not......Im glad you made it out a live, and pray you have a speedy recovery mayne......You never know all that good work you putting in for OSCAR GRANT that could have been him looking over ya that night.......

LOL...This shit is like a fucking tella novela. Fab exposes the secrete blogger as his baby momma, car accidents, freestyles from the gurney, back and forth conflict and excitement for everyone! What it comes down to is you have to have thick skin in this business. I think that Fab is like a lot of people in this industry right now just trying to stay noticed, but the smart people tend to do it when they have a product to capitalize off of said exposure. I don't know what his plan is, but he has to wise enough to see a shifting in public opinion when it is right in his face. As mentioned before an album would possibly cure all of this, but that doesn't seem like it's coming anytime soon. I did notice that there has been a closed lip to the question of the Atlantic deal and if it still or ever existed. At the end of the day FAB knows the truth in his heart and only he knows what kind of man he is, we can only judge what has been presented to us. If a person were to read this thread they would wonder why you and the love of your life are on here arguing with teenagers, because whom we fight with is normally the mark of our own maturity...and if you say that this cyber space is full of kids, haters and people without lives and your on here fighting with them...I'm just saying there is a lot of drama on here and if your going to be a professional you have to act like it at all times.
The Atlantic deal is alive and well...nothing fake about that. Major labels are going through difficult times, like most large businesses in these uncertain financial times; that slows down the process unfortunately. I dont know how much "arguing" I actually do on here, or Fab for that matter. Ever so often he gets on here and as you see ive been a member for a while but usually only post in relation to Fabby and my responses are usually to those who show some sort of intelligence level(although a dumb-fuck might catch me on a bad day and i respond)...so all this actual fighting your talking about IDK about that. As for Fab, he was at home recovering from his accident..why not stir up a little trouble? You see how many views this thread got?

My question to you is what, however, is the standard of professionalism in the rap industry and since when do you set that? If an artists wants to engage with his fans, critics, haters, ect. what is the problem with that? Artists are real people , they have real people in their life, and real things happen to them. The internet has allowed for increased transparency for many artists with the various social networking sites- such as this one.

You know I dislike the word "haters" because it really causes people to think twice before they offer their opinion and I think that is destructive to any genre of music. HOWEVER, there are some straight up HATERS on this site and when I mean haters, not someone who says I dont like this song or that performance, I mean those on here ,and you know who you are, who go OUT of your way on a consistent basis to passionately express your dislike of Fab and criticize every single move. Now to me thats a hater because if you detest an artist and everything about them why just ignore the artist? Why go out of your way? IT really has to get down to the fact that you dont like him on a personal level...aint got shit to do about the music or his rap persona in my opinion. But you all know im BIASED.

Fab is an individual and he is doing it his way if you can't relate don't hate. I've bashed Fab before I've also been amazed by his talent . No one is perfect everybody wants to win look at some of your favorite athletes you remember them for making plays . Once FAB makes it or breaks it whatever stage he reaches in his career he can say he told you so. He must also stay humble coming from the Bay Area where talent is everywhere I'm better than you attitude is never a good look because everybody is trying to win and you can't under estimate the next mans hustle.

Bottom line is this; The internet is the new 35 minute (free) promotion. It takes 10 minutes to record a video, 5 to upload it onto your computer, 10 minutes to edit it, 3 minutes to save it and 7 minutes to upload it to youtube. In 35 minutes you have just put yourself in a position to reach millions of people. If you're not doing or attempting to do what Fab is doing right now then you are not doing shit and nobody knows who you are. The fact that you feel any particular way about Fab means that he is doing something right. 7 years ago the only people that knew who Fab was were the people that lived in his apartment complex. Now he has put himself in a position to network with some of Hip Hop's front runners. Success takes time. Most of these artists on major labels dont make a name for themselves until they hit their 3rd and 4th album. An artist is an investment. When a label gives an artist a deal the first thing they need do is develop that artist. Send him out to create a buzz for himself. Create a demand for their product. That's what Fab is doin right now and it's a smart move. When you see one of our locals hittin allhiphop and worldstar ya'll should be congratulating not hating. Cuz dont be fooled, 60% of the people u see on them sites r paying for their videos to be uploaded. Advertisement on popular sites aint free unless...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...you are making noise in the industry. Fab is doing just that or we wouldnt be having this conversation. Peace to my earths, jewels, sons, moons, stars and gods..

Forgive me if all this was said already earlier in this thread..

How ever any one feels about fab as a artist its a blessing that they got through the car situtation.Fab's music is going to be fab's music like it or not. He is and will always do him that is something fans and haters see and have to understand. Some people think Fab is doing this to get more views ect ect.lol What it shows is a artist is still in grind mode no matter what.

Any artist that takes tha time to let there fans know there ok from there own mouth instead of all the street hype is dope.Alot of your favorite artist could give a shit about there fans point blank..How many artist do you know take tha time to do shit to were tha fans can always see whats going on in there everyday life or take the time to bring you in there world to see every part of tha game tha good bad and tha ugly...

Cats finda feel how they feel no matter what i type..lol real shit but stop and really look at this and what other artist fail to do to reach the streets, fans, and the rest of the music world

Tha Critic

Again, if Fab's buzz was only in the "Bay" then Worldstar would not be uploading his videos to their site. They are not (BART) It is not a Bay owned Web Site and a majority of people who go there are from down South and the East Coast. So if people are watching then his buzz has left the Bay. It is possible that Mr Juice Man had a bigger following and sold more indie units then Fab so it's a must that Atlantic jumps on his buzz quick and releases something. Everybody is different. J. Valentine has been listed as a J Record artist for a over a year already with no release but is signed to J Records and that's fact. Some artists are priority and some are being developed. Different deals for different artists homie. Peace to my aliens, monsters, ghosts and ghouls.
