Bout time. 2012 was the Year of The Alchemist with a whopping 8 projects released, and was arguably his biggest year ever as a producer. Also, there were 2 more albums worth of tracks produced for a slew of dope MCs, which I will post ITT.

2013 is already looking good with a bunch of projects in the works, with Prodigy (Albert Einstein, 1st quarter), debut Step Brothers LP (Lord Steppington, w/ Evidence, 1st quarter), Durag Dynasty (360 Waves, [Planet Asia, Killer Ben, and Tristate]), Freddie Gibbs (Devil's Palace), and Boldy James (TBA).

You also have a project with Alchemist. We're used to you working with him, but what was it like getting together again?
The last one we did together was Return of the Mac, so we figured it was about time to go ahead and do the next one. That was our first project together and it did real good. It had a nice little concept. The concept was it had a blaxploitation '70’s feel to the album. So this new one that we doing, once again there’s gonna be a concept. And we gonna surprise people with what it is this time, but it's basically the same type of thing, though. Al doing all the beats and I’m just going in and painting a picture of what the whole thing is gonna be.

Wasnt feelin the Durag album...production or the spits. I feel like ALC is going to more of "soundtrack" type of production, where the samples are taking over too much of what he is doing. I swear i barely heard/felt any of the drum kits used on that album. Just sounded like a 70's black exploitation score. Which, maybe that is what he was going for. Anyhow, just wasnt my taste.

He is definitely relying heavier on the samples these days. To me it is dope as fuck though and we are witnessing something special as far as beatmaking goes. He's a dying breed. There is only a handful of people in the world who can find these samples & flip them like this.

Beats give me the "scrunchy face" more than anyone else

That "Yasir Arafat" track is insane

yeah its definitely some conceptual "next level" shit that he's doing with those Roc Marciano or Action Bronson "The Symbol" type beats, but he still has the classic, grimey vintage Alchemist sound in him - listen to that beat in that youtube video i posted. "yasir arifat" like infinity mentioned is another good example. but yeah, though the "sparse drum" "soundtrack" sound is cool in doses, i want him to start dropping more tracks with his vintage sound.

yeah the more i listen to it the more i like it. the rhymes may not be the most creative but those guys are definitely going in. PA basically bodies every single song, i haven't heard him rap like this in years
