As young liberal people I hope everyone understands the consequences with going to war with Iraq:

1st of all, the United States has a $6.2 trillion dollar deficit. Preisdent Bush will be asking for 60 to 90 BILLION DOLLARS for war operation. That's 60 to 90 billion less for our social services and 60 to 90 billion more our generation will have to work off...

There is no direct proof that Iraq is connected with Al Queda.

Removing Saadam Hussein would creat a power vaccum in the middle east and a lack of stability. If another middle eastern power is given the right to govern Iraq, they will inherit trillions of dollars of black gold, and in the event they are already in the oil business they may create a near monopoly. If we appoint a governer he will likely not be trusted and the three groups who occupy Iraq will continue to war for power.

A war on Iraq would further inflame tensions between the United States and arab/Islamic countries.

By trying to eliminate "terrorism" in Iraq, we plan to invade the country and rebuild it. However, Iraqi defectors will be more pissed off and likely to carry out a terrorist against the United States than ever.

Crime is rising, education is declining, and the economy is low.

By invading Iraq, we are jepordizing the NATO union and the United Nations confederation.

In several countries, more than half the population believes the United States is more dangerous to world peace than North Korea or Iraq.

Speaking of North Korea, we seemed to forget that THEY are the ones who ADMIT they have missles CAPABLE of hitting CALIFORNIA but we dont seem to be pushing war with them.

Anyways, theres hundreds of reasons not to. There are a few reasons to. Everyone should make their own desicion but be aware of the consequences our generation and our childrens generations may face.

I DO NOT SUPPORT WAR! leading this country to war is a tactic used by shitty politicians trying to cover up the fact that their administration is fuccing up the economy and the country. following in the shallow foot steps of his father the trust fund baby.

DID U KNOW: the government is holding secretive meeting with construction firms in the US to get bids on which company will go into iraq to rebuild them after the war which HAS NOT HAPPENED AND IS NOT SUPPORTED BY THE POPULOUS OF AMERICA. Read the latest time magizine for printed proof. war is all about $$$$ for this administration.

End Sexual Torture In Turkey

A new Amnesty International report, Turkey: End sexual violence against women in custody!, condemns Turkish authorities for committing acts of sexual torture on female detainees. The report documents alarming cases of women in state custody who were forced to strip, beaten severely with truncheons, abused with high-pressure hoses, given electric shock treatment, and raped repeatedly.

This young woman received inadequate medical treatment for lasting injuries sustained during torture sessions after her arrest in Turkey in August 1995.
Due to ethnic discrimination among state authorities, Kurdish women are at particular risk. In August of 2002, a Kurdish woman named Þükriye Beyter was detained and tortured at Hakkâri police headquarters for four days. Police tore her hair out, beat her head against a wall, gave her electric shocks, strangled her with an electric cable, and threatened to have her children killed if she did not accept their statements.

It is often difficult for victims of sexual violence to obtain justice. Gender-based discrimination and social concepts that place shame on the victim create an atmosphere of silence. Amnesty International is concerned that state authorities may be strategically using torture in the form of rape and sexual assault because survivors are unlikely to report their experiences.

Turkey already has ratified numerous treaties prohibiting violence against women, such as the Women's Convention and the Convention Against Torture. Amnesty International is calling on the government to live up to these binding commitments on human rights by protecting women from torture and ensuring that violators are brought to justice.

Take Action! Amnesty International is calling on the Turkish government to bring to justice those responsible for acts of violence against women in detention.

i used to support war and all the testosterone based patriotism, as mindlessly as the next uninformed person. but u all need to strp back and look at the whole picture. yes saddam is a bad man but we do not need the USA seen as the agressor of violence. that is only going to lead to more war and a longer list of enemies. the problem will be that all nations will then stock pile weapons of mass destruction. shit we already have enough to end life on the planet, what will it be like when every country has weapons to exterminate the human race , and a itchy trigger finger from calousness of war and hyper sensitive feeling of self protection.

IS THIS THE WORLD U WANT TO LIVE IN?? IS THIS THE WORLD U WNAT TO RAISE YOUR KIDS IN? think about it, please

i got a few things to say on this subject.

1. I hear people complaining about the fact that bush is focusing on Iraq and saddam while North Korea also has nukes and bio weapons. Everyone with this argument would be just as pissed off if we were threatening war against Korea. It is just plain old hipocricy. We have to start somewhere and Iraq has been a threat for a longer period of time. If you believe we are ignoring the problem in Korea, than youare just plain ignorant. You better damn well believe that we are watching them very closely and will not let them get at us.

2. people are worried about killing innocent people in Iraq. the fact is, Innocent people die in Iraq everyday. several years ago Saddam tested biological weapons on a whole civilization of people known as the Kurds and they are still affected today. If you think that the testing has and will stop, than that is just ignorant. We can either stop it now, or let it happen even more. the Hussein regime is undoubtedly going to carry on for generations unless we do something about it.

3. War SHOULD be the last result. the question is when is it the last possible scenario? I'd personally believe that we have done everything possible. And to say that we need to be worried about the middle east hating us even more is ridiculous. they already hate us passionatly and as history has proven, they will not get over it EVER. They will always hate us and want us dead, there is nothing we can doa bout it.

WAR IS INEVITABLE!

"Why of course the people don't want war ... But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship ...Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."

And this quote is by......................

Hermann Goering, Nazi leader,
at the Nuremberg Trials

just a quote i thought was fitting
