FUCK YOU
The Pittsburgh Steelers traded troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick in next week's NFL draft, sources confirmed Sunday night.

ESPN 1050 in New York first reported the story. Holmes was contacted late Sunday and told that he had been traded to New York, sources said.

Holmes is facing a civil lawsuit in Florida from a woman who claims he threw a glass at her, cutting her above the eye, in an Orlando nightclub. The police also have been investigating the woman's claims. Holmes denies hurting the woman, and a witness has since taken responsibility for tossing the glass, according to Holmes' lawyer.

The player has run into trouble before this offseason. He was cited for marijuana possession, a misdemeanor, in Pennsylvania in 2008. The Steelers made Holmes inactive for the game following the incident and he subsequently apologized. In 2006, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Ohio, but that charge was later dropped.

In four seasons in Pittsburgh, the 26-year-old Holmes -- the MVP of the 2009 Super Bowl -- had 235 catches for 3,835 yards and 20 touchdowns.

In New York, Holmes gives quarterback Mark Sanchez another big-time target to throw to in an offense that already had Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery, promising tight end Dustin Keller and recently signed running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

Holmes is in the last year of his contract and is only playing 12 games this season. The Steelers just wanted him gone. But damn they gave him away cheap.

holmes for a 5th rounder seems cheap but hes far from consistint, coming into the last year of his contract and seems to be getting in more and more trouble.....Jets are making moves but they are risky, Cromartie is extremly over-hyped and just because hes going to be in a rex ryan defense doesnt mean hes going to go back to his spectacular "numbers" year.....

remember you never win a championship threw FA/Trades...i think Rex is getting trigger happy because he got tot he AFC champ with a rookie qb and expectations are high in the biggest sports market in the world to produce some hardware...i hope it all blows up in the fat mutha fuckers faces personally

this is not a great move by the steelers. but it is also not a devastating one. the steelers have faith in sophmore receiver Mike Wallace. he has a lot of potential to put up yards and TDs. M Wallace should a good late-round draft pick in fantasy football
I wonder if they also did this to give Limas Sweed more playing time or if he's just considered a bust. Yo, where's Jazzo?

What the fuck are the Steelers thinking with that move?
I think it would be to much negative publicity and off field distractions for the team....With Holmes and Ben fighting cases at the same time.....Its a good PR move for the Steelers but giving up holmes who's only 26 for a 5th rounder is kinda desperate.....Maybe Limas Sweed is ready to step up...

Holmes had his best year as a pro last year. WTF are you talking about being inconsistent. 79 receptions and over 1300 yards seems pretty consistent to me. For a fifth rounder, that is a steal. As of now, the Jets are my pick to represent the AFC in the superbowl. But that is not saying much because it is only April.
