To answer your question I think the vatican has a rather large library, and they have acknowledged the secret archives and what not.

^^that's nothing compared to the Library Of Alexandria. It's not like the rest of the world didn't already have most of the lost information. Alexandria was home to many of the only literature regarding philosophy, technology, inventions, etc. It was a huge loss and many of the things that were once known, were not rediscovered until hundreds of years later.

If you were specifically speaking about the ancient Persians than why did you say they be rollin beemers? Sounds to me that you were speaking about modern Persians as well.

As for what/who destroyed The Library Of Alexandria, it is up for debate.

According to wikipedia, Ancient and modern sources identify four possible occasions for the destruction of the Library:

1. Caesar's conquest 48 BC
2. the attack of Aurelian in the 3rd century AD
3. the decree of Theophilus in 391 AD, and
4. the Muslim conquest in 642 AD or thereafter.

I wasn't even aware of this library, but I have thought about the knowledge that has been lost throughout history because of war and other things. I trip out on thinking what the pre-European Indigenous tribes had accomplished in terms of philosophy, math, science (astronomy), etc. A whole other way of thinking and living was destroyed along with the people. And this goes for every civilization that has been destroyed in the same manner.
