You're 100% wrong cuzzin. They moved them units BEFORE still tippin and WAY BEFORE they ever had a national record contract. Texas just supports their local artists. Thats how some sorry ass rapper like Mike Jones can blow up in the first place.

That's cool, but we get this thread every week or so.

Also, are there any reports or stats that people can look at that back the downloading claim? I see and hear people say that a lot, but have never seen the numbers.

People stopped buying albums because of napster. cd prices were getting too high and that was a way to get free cds. since then its evolved into hella different peer2peers and cd prices still haven't reall dropped. you can still get some $9.99 cds at circuit city or best buy every now & then, but the bootlegger in the parking lot will get you 3 for 10. and people are willing to do that cuz they're saving money and they know the album they're about to buy is only going to have 1 song they like. the people that actually buy records are looking for that hit single on the radio, not really looking for an artists in perticular. if artists want more sales, they gotta be willing to cut their costs of the album and still make better shit. much better. these 4 good song albums are getting to be bullshit.

That's my point.

I've never once seen stats to back up the downloading claim. People constantly bring up it up as a reason why the Bay hasn't blown, but can never provide any proof. And other people just blindly accept it as truth.

The Hyphy movement tight, but it ain't all the bay got. Its more artists that ain't Hyphy thats gone help bring the bay to the forefront. People like Quinn, Jacka, Messy Marv, Big Rich, J Davinci just to name a few.

The Bay got more than one sound and more than one audience.

did it ever occur to some artist that puttin out a half-ass album wit 3 or 4 good songs isn't worth my hard-earned money......i got bills to pay just like like the guy next to me.

places like Warehouse or Towers music ain't helpin much when you gotta cough up 18 bucks for an album wit a few good songs. When i can go to a mompops' store and get it for cheaper.
