Yes I have seen the original one. Not a favorite of mine but I liked it better then the remake. Remakes suck 99% of the time, and this didn't fall into the 1% that didn't. It doesn't suprise me that people liked the movie though, most movies made these days are crap and people still seem to like them.
Last horror movie I though was really good was Event Horizon.

There was a lot of dumb shit like the good guy creature, but it was fun. Lol I was hoping he was gonna do something heroic so I could yell out "Hey yoooouuuuuu guuuuuuys". There were a bunch of younger kids in there that were screaming the whole movie, was pretty funny.
Was funny seeing Flex do his best Jamie Foxx in Jarhead impersonation.

Fuck.. there are way too many to list. Granted, there are probably 2 bad remakes for every good one, but people come down way too hard on remakes. If its too different from the original, people say "it sucked because it strayed away from its roots" and if its too similar to the original, people say "it sucked because it was exactly like the first one". Seems like a no win situation for movie makers.

I thought the first one was dope. Obviously it had the same old tourists' car breaks down and they get stuck in the middle of nowhere and die one by one plot, but it was still pretty scarry and nasty.
I had a feeling the 2nd one would blow.
I really liked the first Chainsaw Masscre, and the 2nd Chainsaw Masscre the Beginning sucked major balls.

IMO off the list you wrote, the only really good remakes were The Fly, The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. But even those remakes are over 20 years old (going back to my "most movies these days are crap" statement.)
I watched about 3/4's of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, the only reason I made it that far was because of Jessica Biel. That movie should have never been remade...same goes for the Dawn of the Dead remake. People need to come up with some new ideas and quit fucking with classics.

I can't speak for Mothman Prophecies because I haven't seen it.
