what makes these old guys like the rock and Stone Cold so damn great? They were entertaining but shit its time for new guys to get their shine out there. Guys like Carlito, Edge, Randy Orton, Christian etc are just as entertaining to me as those guys were 10 years ago. Seems like alot of people aren't giving these young guys a chance. I like the wrestling of yesteryear too but we all know how the game works after watching this shit for so long. These dudes come and go, personally i get irritated when they bring guys like Hogan back from the dead, He'll come out and say "That Right BROTHER THE HULKSTER IS BACK!" He will get beat up the whole match just to "hulk up" and give dude a Big Boot and a leg drop! Then his theme music comes on and he rips his shirt off and does 20 minutes of victory flexing! LOL

Austin and the Rock were pretty much wrestling phenoms on the same line of Hulk Hogan.. They are trying to push John Cena to that level but it's not working..

The thing with Austin and the Rock is that they could get over as face or heel, and that they were huge moneymakers for the WWF. Plus, on the mic, none of the guys you listed holds a candle to them.

Carlito is too small to be that next big guy.. Edge is good, but I don't see him being a bad ass face type guy ever, like Austin and the Rock were.. He's too much of a pretty boy.. Orton doens't have the mic skills at all.. he stumbles all the time on the mic, but he is a better wrestler than both of them. Christian was tight, but he's in TNA now, so he won't ever be that big.. He is also too small, and he didn't have the mass appeal because of looks to be as big as Austin or the Rock. He's not buff enough or didn't have a gimmick where he could be a bad ass.. People are never going to be scared of Christian.. but he has a hell of a lot of Charisma..

Cena is probably the closest to Austin and Rock they have now, but, he has no wrestling ability at all out there. He looks so sloppy. He moves like a gump.

EDIT: To add to this.. Guys like Orton and Edge are more like Bret Hart and HBK and things like that.. They'll never have the huge following, but they'll be big stars, but not megastars like Austin, Rock, and Cena has the ability to become.

I think Cena would be better off if he went heel for a short while... But, it's not going to happen.. Vince doens't want to lose the merch sales. I think they should do the whole Bret Hart 96-97 heel turn, when he said the fans turned on him, and then, he starts badmouthing the fans.

Well big stars don't nessisarilly have to be big guys, look at Michaels.

It took Austin well over 10 years wrestling in indies, WCW etc and like 2 or 3 years in the WWF before he blew up. You never know who will be the next big thing. The Rock definatly had it all though. Cena needs alot of work in the ring but most of the megastars are 5 move wonders like Cena is and can just talk well.

My point is wrestling is still entertaining. There isn't much these guys can do that hasn't been done before. Every gimmick has been thought of, every storyline has been done. Its just with different guys.

With the exception of Edge and Randy Orton, none of the people listed have a great gimmick. What in the hell can carlito do? Spit fruit at people for five years straight? What can Christian actually do besides say "I'm captain charisma damnit"? Nothing. Edge is the "rated R superstar" so you can have him doing the most provacative and extreme things and hopefully it will pay off in the long run. Randy Orton can take the legend killer gimmick to new heights IF legends that are still wrestling (HHH, Michaels, Taker, etc) are willing to put him over in a big way, but even that gimmick can only run so far. Honestly, I think those guys are too far gone or better yet to known now to actually change their name or gimmicks. When the Rock, Stone Cold or Hogan made that big change (or started to) they weren't widely know. Also, look at demographics. Hogan came along at the right time and so did the rock and stone cold.

Edge, Orton, Cena, Batista, Lashley, Spirit Squad members(I dont like these guys but WWE has a plan for them thats why they put them in Raw main events and matches with HHH and HBk) will be the stars to carry the company to the next generation.

Carlito will be released in the future bc they tried so ahrd to make him a major star by being heel and face and its not working

I think they are focusing too much on making Cena the next rock/stone cold/ Hogan maybe if he completly shakes the white rapper gimmick he would be cool but i think hed need to take like a 6 month hiatus to put that over right. I personally like alot of the newer guys like Edge(not new but they are finally putting him over right), Orton, Carlito etc. They are the future, what are they gonna do try to bring stone cold back again or the rock? Hells no, rock is making way too much cash with movies to get back into wrestling and Austin has too injury prone and too old to really make a good comeback. I'll just sit back and watch what they do, I remember when out of nowhere they decided to make Bret Hart the backbone. I though it was out of left field when they made him champ but look what he did for the business.

True they did the same for HBK. But imo Edge will be a top heel for the company . and I believe Orton will be the top Babyface bc somehow he will turn good again. I know Cena is handpicked but its not working with the crowd and the fans are the ones who make and break the company

Orton is a natural heel, hes that smug spoiled asshole we all love to hate. i hope they don't turn him face again.

Yeah Cena ain't working for me as their backbone, hes definatly got talant though maybe not in the wrestling catigory but he sells his moves well and is great on the mic. I just don't see anyone else that can take his place on their roster right now so they have to keep trying to put him over on the fans

Batista's good, but he's up there in age.. He's around 39, I think... He doesn't have many years left, so it'd be hard to push him as the future, he also seems a little injury prone.. It'd be nice to get Brock back, and have a Brock and Batista feud, though.

I think stars like Stone Cold and The Rock gotta happen naturally rather then try to force and push a certain guy to that kinda stardom. I remember when Austin was a heel, people started to like him anyway and it forced the WWF to start pushing him into a "badass" face. The same thing happened with The Rock. No matter how much they tried to put them over as heel characters, you always had people who liked them anyway...I cant see the same with Cena and alot of these boring ass hobos they got now.

WHO THEY NEED TO REALLY PUSH AS FAR AS HEELS GO, THAT UMAGA DUDE, HE'S RAW! PUT HIM ON SMACK DOWN, FUED WITH MARK HENRY AND BATISTA, OR KEEP HIM ON RAW, FUED WITH KANE, I LIKE HIM. ORTON IS A NATURAL HEEL, KEEP HIM THAT WAY AND PUSH HIM AS WELL. AS FAR AS FACES, I DONT SEE ANYONE BEING A HUGE FACE LIKE THE ROCKS OR STEVE AUSTINS, THE ONLY THAT COMES TO MIND IS HHH, HE CAN WORK BOTH SIDES, BUT THEY NEED TO GO YOUNGER, HOW ABOUT SOME OVW TALENT? I REALLY LIKE RVD, BUT HIM AS A HEEL AND THIS ECW THING IS WRONG TIMING, MAKE KANE THAT MONSTER AGAIN, BUILD A STRONG STORY LINE FOR THAT. THIS KANE VS FAKE KANE IS NOT BUILDING WELL, IT HAS MY ATTENTION & CURIOSITY, BUT NOT FOR LONG. AND WHAT IS UP WITH SMACKDOWN, MAKE THE SHOW HAVE A STRONG FOLLOWING LIKE RAW, I DONT GET THAT. AND LOL @ MYSTERIO FOR BEIN CHAMP, IM HAPPY, BUT DURING THIS STATE OF WRESTLING, NO.
