i agree with what JD said. But you also got to realize not all these djs are real djs. all them cats doing those lil wayne mixtapes were doin way too much. i feel waynes pain. that all goes back to real djs. a real dj knows that it is his job to break records and find new talent as well as keep up with whats hot in the streets or in the clubs. a lot of these "djs" sit in their parents house in their room downloading songs, yell and drop tags on the shit and call it a mixtape. i swear to you ive seen them!
as far as Djs tryin to be superstars, the DJ was the star of the show when hip hop began. people came to the club, park , house party because of dj so and so. the rappers would come and ask the dj if he can get on the mic or get his record played. the dj put the rappers on! when the "industry" came in and capitalized off hip hop, the rapper took off to the forefront and dj played the backseat. it seems to me that the dj is just coming back to a position of power. Djs are droppin albums now more frequently and are breaking new artists now more than ever. but with the way technology has gone and is going, any Charlie fuckface can instantly be a rapper, singer, or dj with the flick of a button. it sucks but the road to success is not an easy road to travel.
