i agree with what JD said. But you also got to realize not all these djs are real djs. all them cats doing those lil wayne mixtapes were doin way too much. i feel waynes pain. that all goes back to real djs. a real dj knows that it is his job to break records and find new talent as well as keep up with whats hot in the streets or in the clubs. a lot of these "djs" sit in their parents house in their room downloading songs, yell and drop tags on the shit and call it a mixtape. i swear to you ive seen them!

as far as Djs tryin to be superstars, the DJ was the star of the show when hip hop began. people came to the club, park , house party because of dj so and so. the rappers would come and ask the dj if he can get on the mic or get his record played. the dj put the rappers on! when the "industry" came in and capitalized off hip hop, the rapper took off to the forefront and dj played the backseat. it seems to me that the dj is just coming back to a position of power. Djs are droppin albums now more frequently and are breaking new artists now more than ever. but with the way technology has gone and is going, any Charlie fuckface can instantly be a rapper, singer, or dj with the flick of a button. it sucks but the road to success is not an easy road to travel.

at the end of the day it affects the "DJ" name as a whole
EXACTLY!!! and thats why I think the real muhfuckaz like JUICE, DEMO Men, MIND MOTION, MOE 1, FUZE, Boriqua 1 all need to take more hold of this DJ shit and call them muhfuckaz out.. REAL DJs break Artists!!! Point blank.. With no other hidden agenda.. if they like a song, fuck it.. they'll play it.. all these "gimme 100 bucks and I'll put ur song on a mixtape" ass DJs need to put the Laptop down!!! Word up..

Nah.... I know some ill dj's and these guys that shout over every track ain't all dj's. Just because you got a grip of bootleg songs and put them on one cd don't make you a dj.... they are just annoying a true dj has turntable skills. If you can't scratch, beat match, beat break, etc.... you ain't a dj...

Lil Wayne said "If you a mixtape DJ then fuck you"....plain and simple words.

What you said backed up what JD was speakin on. DJ's USED to be the ones to break records but now are trying to be the artist instead of feedin' the cause.

And you said it perfectly, ANYONE can be a "DJ" now. Truth be told, most mixtapes released these days are by right-click kids and not DJs who have paid dues. The mixtape game is WAY over saturated. Point blank.

I'm GLAD many mixtape DJs are makin shit happen. For the record I've always thought you (The Demolition Men) were dope cause you earned your stripes and do tapes right. Unfortunately the solid cats are in the small percentage of garbage out there that is making people think twice about coppin' mixes

ummmm I use Serato and I use turntables with it...The only thing Serato does is make it easier to get your music. Mixing is the same deal.

There's a GINORMOUS thread about Serato already and I'm exhausted just thinking about it lol

btw I've been DJing for 16 years

why do people worry about the DJ being dead when they control what you want to hear. if the dj is dead then everybody that you listen to right now is full of shit. if it weren't for any dj or bootleggin or whatever, a shitty artist like lil wayne wouldn't be successful. they gave him this "street cred" and he's like fuck'em now? it was the DJ that brainwashed you to thinkin he's a real g just cuz he spits a couple of bars.

hey, why do niggas think Serato is like DJ Auto Pilot? all it does it save niggas from carrying crates all over the city. wack dj's can still trainwreck and fuck up a set on Serato.

as far as the DJ being dead. r.i.p. half you mp3 niggas couldnt mix bisquick.
how many mixtapes have you heard where you dont hear one scratch, one blend, but a million gunshots?

the only superstar dj's i know of all spin electronic music all over europe.
the closest thing we have to that in america is douche bag "Celebrity" DJs like those ugly ass Ronson kids.
