Oakland has always been known for that funk since Sly & the Family Stone, Larry Graham and Tower of Power and it continued with Short and that 90's mob sound . Shit half that Parliament live album in 1977 was recorded in Oakland. Funk is heavy bass lines and various arrangement done right that shit slap so fuckin hard and the production can be on point and complex. Nowadays brothas aint commin with lyrics its just that simple cat and the hat cliche shit, But man I think you bring it and have a good sense of your history you and your boy Young Gully can be the future of this shit.
