The biggest problem with the ball in "our" court is that there are far too many egos and we think we are successful selling 25K copies when the south does 100K without thinking.
There are alo of opportunities coming the Bay's way thanks to E40 and alot of other cats but I fear the same thing will happen that happened to us the last time everyone had deals.
Back in the mid-90's it turned to dog eat dog, every man for himself and look where that got us.
I have lived through at least 3 "movements" in the Bay and everyone of them has come and gone, and I helped to personally bring the Bay back from '99 to '02 and did my part.
The unfortunate reality is we are spoiled in the Bay and think everyone owes us something instead of going out and getting it ourselves.
Remember, the same people you see on the way up is the ones you see on the way down.
I hope the Bay does hold it this time...
But remember, there are two P's in success (Probability and Possibility)...meaning...yeah we "possibly" could blow up again, but the "probability" is not good.

i think another problem that hurt us is our greatest asset became our greatest downfall the independent game that put us out there in the first place got everyone and there momma thinkin that oh now i can be rapper cuz we are all about independence in the bay and we got saturated hella quick with so many rappers coming outta the wood work that had no clue about the industy this shit is a buisness the more u know the further you will go true there are no major lables in the bay but like 12 said u gotta do it yourself dont think about automatically blowin indi cuz your from the bay and thats how we do it get educated on this shit first then get ya feet wet pz
I'm sorry to say, mobb music is dead, my friend. I miss it as much as anybody but let's at least face that fact. The 90's mobb shit was real shit, now mobb music just sounds like generic imitations of the 90s sound. The people who have the talent to make good mobb music are no longer interested in it.
If you dont like the hyphy movement, look at it like this, hyphy will be the passing fad that opens the door for the next wave of "real" shit. Thats why folks keep makin posts about how important it is to support the 40 record wether you feelin it or not. 40 is pretty universally accepted as the Bay's favorite Bay rapper, so if he flops, you think any other Bay rapper will have a chance?

Real talk. The people who could do real mob shit don't want to make real mob shit no more. But I remember not too long ago, everytime there was talks of mobb music vs. hyphy shit, somebody would jump up and say this hyphy shit was gonna blow the bay up and it was the future and all that shit. People like me would say hell naw, the mob shit sold a lot more both independently and on major labels and people won't feel all that new shit. And look at it now. Seems like everybody outside the bay who heard Tell Me When To Go or seen My Block: The Bay hates this shit. They tryin to turn the bay into a joke. I don't see how they can talk shit like that after what the rap game's been for the last few years, but they do... All I'm hopin for now is that 40's album sells well and that more bay rappers get on, but hopefully leave all that hyphy shit behind...
I have no problem with hyphy music. I knock that shit, but I knock old mobb shit just as much. I think theres certain artists who can make hyphy music and certain artists that can make mobb shit. The Keaks, Teams, Federations, and FABs should keep doing their hyphy shit cuz its good with them. The Jackas, 40s, Quinns should keep at what theyre at and the other 50% of Bay Area rappers should really consider another job. Not hating on bay music, I love that shit but just my opinion.
