if the light set up was right, u wouldnt see the wrinkles that bad. my black backdrop fell off the roll and i had to roll that shit completely up again and it was wrinkled as fuck but if u underexpose it and just expose the subject more, the wrinkles show up minimal. i think your first problem is that ur too close to the backdrop.
also i keep my studio dark and the only lights that are on is my portrait lights..but thats just preference i guess.
