oh, and please know i barely mixxed the track yet, i still have lots of time to spend on this, but i just wanted to put somethin yal could hear (quicc mix).... plenty more good stuff comin... we givin yal a chance to hear her as she creates this album... we already just got her a distribution deal, no big thing, but it helps...

all comments and suggestions are welcome!!!

leon kage... where you at... i need ya input....

I've listened to this song about 20 times so I can be sure to make an informed comment. I'm going to critique this as compared to "industry standard" and not as an independent track...

The two "oooh oooh"'s at the beginning of the song sound strained.

I think the chorus (writing) isn't very good, but his singing is pretty good.

I think the clap used is too "Zapp"-ish, claps like that went out years ago.

The 5-6 clap part doesn't sound right. It'd sound good as a mix of snares & kicks hitting on the same counts (crunk style).

The production is basic and the beat is very monotonous, no changes. I think a good mix can help out, but the track still could benefit from some overdubs.

She has several parts, in the first verse alone, where she has too many words and loses her clearness and her words jumble up into an indistinguishable mumble.

Nothing I hear her say really sticks out. Sounds like just another rapper rapping just to be rapping.

To summarize:

1) The beat is just that - a beat, not music. One big multitrack loop.

2) Any song with an R&B singer had better have a strong, catchy chorus. The chorus suffers from weak writing.

3) The rapper sounds like just another aspiring rapper on the come up. I agree with (was it Moe?) whoever said that she doesn't sound polished. She doesn't have anything that makes her stand out and nothing unique about her delivery or vocal style.

4) The lyrics have no stand-out lines.

This was my honest criticism, trying to be as constructive as possible. Because I've had a chance to work with & been around alot of artists & musicians, I'm a very harsh critic & not easily impressed.

I'm feelin the track. You should turn the mic up a lil bit though, but it is a tight track. The person that did the hook. is his name Nick?

att: Tact Out: I got those beats to Jen and she liked a couple so i gave her some full ones and she said she'd write to it. You said the cd was goin to be distibuted nation wide ? And if so my boys want to know how to get that distribution deal. There a group called lost souls. get at me.

^^^ well to get distribution, its not really somethin you can just get.... its like lookin for a job, you gotta present your self, in this case your label and albums, and they have to be willing enough to want your product.... i can at least get you the people to contact, but its up to them if they wanna distribute your product...

leon: thanks for youe critique.... but i wasnt really talkin bout the beat, i have yet to even track it down and put changes in it.... or construct it, there are alot of sounds and shit i havent even begun on this beat, this was just 2 tracked, and recorded, so we had her verses, and the hook... so i still have lots of work to do... as for her verses, i dont know how clear your internet connection is, but i do know at least when i listen to the song here, her verses are right on, i still need to mix those better, i will admit there are a few times you cant tell exactly what she said, unless you listen to it a few times.... but its mostly in her delivery and her style.... i love twista, but alot of times i gotta listen to him 3-4 times before i know what he said... but i know what your gettin at.... its only gonna get better from hear.... as for the hook, i mean its a simple hook, but to me, the way it sounds, its catchy to me, not necessarily on the "underground tip" but its easy to remember, and so far got myself repeating the hook to myself all this weekend for no reason... i do appreciate your critiquin tho....

Damn, couldn't have explained it any better. I feel the exact same way this guy does especially the line where it says she just sounds like another rapper rapping just to be rapping. Nothing really impressive overall.
