i dont understand how some fans can get their titties twisted over the choices an artist makes. the artist doesnt owe a fan anything other than say, show up at a gig and not do it half-assed when fans have paid for tickets.

if someone feels that havin listened to and repped and artist for a given time is some sort of an investment, then those people are fucked in the brain! it's not an investment... reppin and being a fan aint an investment and the artist owes you nothing for it. except maybe some gratitude but that's misleading too because it's not really directed towards the fans but towards the universe for makin it so that people like the artist's music.

tech could become a transvestite bakcup dancer for madonna and that wouldnt take anything away from the great music he has done in the past. i mean i'd clown him for that but let the artists and their record companies make their own choices for better or for worse mmmmkay

Tech didn't sell out or "go mainstream" he's a real artist he makes what he feels like making. And if you don't like it then don't listen to it, simple as that, this isn't life or death. If you just don't like the way he went with his music on that album then cool but turning it into some piss poor excuse for a personal attack just makes you look like an upset groupie.

Also its not like Bout Ta Bubble is the first "popish" song he's ever done..

It was pretty good, but i thought that Rain or the Maze would have been better. Or maybe riotmaker? Midwest? So many choices

Dear Mister-I'm-Too-Good-To-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans,
this'll be the last package I ever send your ass
It's been six months and still no word - I don't deserve it?
I know you got my last two letters;
I wrote the addresses on 'em perfect
So this is my cassette I'm sending you, I hope you hear it
I'm in the car right now, I'm doing 90 on the freeway
Hey Slim, I drank a fifth of vodka, you dare me to drive?
You know the song by Phil Collins, "In the Air of the Night"
about that guy who coulda saved that other guy from drowning
but didn't, then Phil saw it all, then at a show he found him?
That's kinda how this is, you coulda rescued me from drowning
Now it's too late - I'm on a 1000 downers now, I'm drowsy
and all I wanted was a lousy letter or a call
I hope you know I ripped ALL of your pictures off the wall
I love you Slim, we coulda been together, think about it
You ruined it now, I hope you can't sleep and you dream about it
And when you dream I hope you can't sleep and you SCREAM about it
I hope your conscience EATS AT YOU and you can't BREATHE without me
See Slim; {*screaming*
Shut up bitch! I'm trying to talk!
Hey Slim, that's my girlfriend screamin in the trunk
but I didn't slit her throat, I just tied her up, see I ain't like you
cause if she suffocates she'll suffer more, and then she'll die too
Well, gotta go, I'm almost at the bridge now
Oh shit, I forgot, how am I supposed to send this shit out?

Tech has to have singles that play well in the club. He has yet to take a "strangle hold" on the mainstream, so one step at a time PLEASE. The Rain would be cool, but one, Tech needs to be established first; and two, who honestly puts out a song like that as their lead single? None of the suggestions you made make any sense as a lead single! And like it or not, Bout Ta' Bubble has taken Tech N9ne places that NO OTHER SINGLE of his has before. :x

Welcome to the Midwest has the sound that could be a great single. Throw in a bunch of cameos and boom! you've got the main reason why Houston artists are so big now.

A. Establish friendships with hot rhymers

B. Put them in your video and they'll do the same.

He's going the right way to be huge. The buzz about Springfield is bigger than it has ever been in that part of Missouri.

This is so goofy. First off, "Slacker" got more video play (BET Uncut) thus far and "Imma Tell" got WAYYYY more airplay than "Bout Ta Bubble". Another thing, this album is far ahead of the sales pace of Absolute Power and Angehellic.
I wrote the blog below specifically for those who obviously do not get it like the originator of this thread.

"Tech, don't go mainstream!"
Category: Blogging

This must be addressed. Many out there keep hating becuase Tech is on MTV, especially the Juggalo family. Many say, "Tech don't sell out, don't go mainstream....what the hell does that really mean...
better yet, do those that make those statements even know what that means?
Musically, mainstream music denotes music that is familiar to the masses
Interesting term. You can not GO mainstream, the masses make an artists MAINSTREAM through acceptance of the music.
I ask this question before I go on...
Did anyone really get the meaning of Slacker?????
When someone gets into the music business, they do it for the love of it and no matter what anyone says, the ultimate goal is to do it for a living. Now lets look at those who are out there and successful. A lot of Alternative groups are huge today. No one is telling them "don't sell out, don't go mainstream". Slipknot, Green Day, Weezer, Staind, Linkin Park...etc
They do what they do, were embraced by people that believed in them and they are successful (getting a lot of video play too mind you) and make a great living making music (By the way, Tech N9ne is in the top ten worldwide on the myspace alternative charts). Did anyone ever consider Iron Maiden or Judas Priest "Mainstream"??? No but they were because they were familiar to and loved by millions of people around the world.
Let's take a look at Hip-Hop music.
Over the years Hip-Hop has evolved far beyond what anyone dreamed. There is a lot of great Hip-Hop and a great deal is bubble gum bullshit but there are those that stand out and send a message. Tech N9ne has always been Tech. Tech N9ne is not changing to conform to what the industry wants. Anyone remember the FTI campaign????
Strange Music is INDEPENDENT. There is not a commitee up in New York or in L.A. dictating the image of Tech N9ne or yelling about the musical direction. Tech N9ne is the musical direction of Tech N9ne.
Does anyone remember a group called NWA??
Love em or hate em, the fact of the matter is, the industry had to bow down and allow them to be the dominate force they became. I do not remember anyone telling them how to record. Didn't Dre then and to this day write his own ticket? People emulate not dictate what Dre does. Ice Cube?? Independent artist...and the author of an album called "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted". Sold millions and got airplay, video play, did he sell out?? Pac was all over MTV...for a while every rapper wanted to be Pac, was he a sell out? He has as many albums out since he passed than when he was here.
What about Ice T?? Anyone remember a song called Cop Killa?, Hustla? 6 in tha Mornin'? Millions of records later..still the same person. A little older and wiser but he never changed his style.

Point of the matter is that Tech N9ne is an innovator another in a long line of musical pioneers. Quincy Jones said it best...'Tech N9ne is the Charlie Parket of Rap." Acceptance the answer to the burning questions. There is no semblence of sell out coming from Strange. Kutt, Krizz, Skat, Snug, PDM (definately not sell outs) and now Critical Bill...
I believe on Everready (The Religion) Krizz Kaliko said 'Strange Music, where bullshit aint nothin'

This is hard core VIRAL HIP HOP a true V-HOP nation. "Infecting the world with beautiful music", as Tech so elequently puts it. You can love it or hate it...it is what it is. It is the industry that is doing the selling out, water seeks its own level. You can not argue with the success of Kansas City's own. What happens is that the industry takes notice and says..."hey, we might have something here". How long did you honestly think that a man with that much talent was going to kept in the dark? I know I read somewhere that what is in the dark will eventually come to light! The time has come for enlightenment...
Reality is this, if they are thirsty and you build a well, people will come drink from it. Tech N9ne is an oasis and people who have been yearning for something unique and innovative keep coming. This creates awareness on a mass scale thus catapulting Tech N9ne into the MAINSTREAM.
CAN YOU HEAR STRANGE MUSIC KNOCKIN????
You can support the movement or move out of the way...cause we BOUT TA BUBBLE round here....

it seems like people who have been tech fans for a long time don't like bout ta bubble, but everyone who i've introduced to it loves it and they think the video is dope too. so who knows whats up with that.
