Wow. I know I haven't paid attention to ICP for a few years, but I never saw the switch to becoming a Christian rock band coming.
I find it hard to believe that was the plan from the outset, but if it was, that was genius. Develop a fiercely loyal fanbase, then once they all think whatever you do is gold say, "Oh, btw, God is king!" Hard to pull off after years of making music about murdering people.
I think that'd be the best religious brainwashing in my lifetime. But, then... I'm not really sure when Jonestown happened. I may have been alive for that and just really young.

That's not the point. The whole idea is that the dark carnival is pergatory, and that they're kind of like the dark angels who kill evil people and then guiding them to the dark carnival. So technically they can still do the whole "I'm gonna kill you" thing because they're working for the dark carnival, kind of like Loki in Dogma.
