A patron pulling out of the drive-through at a Santa Rosa fast food restaurant early Monday was attacked by a man wielding a belt, Santa Rosa police reported.
The victim’s window was still down after he’d gotten his food and a man hit him through the opening with a belt buckle, Sgt. Terry Anderson said.
Police still were attempting to determine what led to the confrontation at about 3:15 a.m. at the Jack In The Box restaurant on Steele Lane.
Initial reports indicated the suspect and a woman with him had been talking to drivers in the drive-through line prior to the assault.
After being attacked the victim got out of his car and the two men began fighting. The suspect apparently hit the victim repeatedly with the buckle end of the belt.
The victim told police he saw the woman in his car being pulled out by the woman with the suspect and the two women began fighting.
When the victim went to try and help her, the suspect then hit the female victim with the buckle in the head, according to reports.
The two suspects fled, taking the victim’s car keys, Anderson said.
The extent of any injuries wasn’t available early Monday.
