^concerts are extremely expensive to throw, most of the time youre lucky to break even.

For an up and comer that barely has money to spend to throw their own show, paying a small fee to get on a bigger-ticket show is the way to go. The little bit they pay wouldn't even cover 3 security guards for the night, let alone the venue, sound, insurance, blah blah...

It seems like a scam to outsiders, but when you've thrown your own show at least once, you'd quickly understand.

I understand that people pay to be the opening act at various venues. I was just asking if that was the case for this show. It seems like I must have asked a very sensitive question based on the responses.
