Actually you have intelligent argument and I respect that.
With growth comes a lot of issues that need to be addressed quickly. I know that a lot of people that wanted promo did not get any. I know that a lot of people that did are clowns that put the shit on EBay, etc.
I cast no blame anywhere. We were all completely overwhelmed this year. 8 releases and a small staff. Everyone worked long hours with a few of us including Travis working seven days a week for months. With ten times the volume of promo materials, merch and non stop tours this year, there were a lot of things that were lost in translation. Overall, I think with all things considered, Strange did a damn good job of making a mark in the industry.
I want to say thank you to all those who put it down to get the word out. I apologize to those who got very little to work with or nothing at all. Those materials are not cheap and they had to go a long way. Was it effective, yes. Could have been done better across the board? Absolutely. If you dont think that we are looking to address these issues so that things run smoother, you are sadly mistaken. I am actively putting together information to get over to the office to get this process more streamlined.
I would recommend that those who are really down to put in work get a hold of Trav and Britton. Email your info to the [email protected]
I am compiling a list of those of you that I have already. It will take me weeks to go through all the email and phone messages to compile more.
I know that there are a lot of loyal peeps here on this forum but there are an incredible amount of people that we have to interact with weekly and so many people that have helped with street team promo its ridiculous.
Since you asked, there were really no job descriptions and I was the marketing manager/director, whatever. I did marketing and promo. That included but was not limited to
myspace, blackplanet, virb, facebook, ilike.com, youtube, therealtechn9ne.com, friendster, reverbnation, eventful.com
Street team promotion, sniping, flyer distribution, shipping of promo materials, flyer/poster ordering, city specific flyer editing, street team organization, DJ Pool submission
Once again, if you are truly serious about helping to push Strange. Get your info over to the email addy and I will work closely with Britton to help make things a lot smoother from here on.

I hear that there are those who didn't get promo stuff at certain times and what not, but with mainly only Hawke and Shawn traveling and distributing them, you'd have to take the set up for what it was. And I think it might've been more cost effective for them to do that instead of sending out individual packages of stuff to X amount of people across the country. Shipping can add up like a mug, and strange is an indy company, so you gotta take that into account.
it does sound the same for the most part. The shit I was listening to was on some Norse mythos shit or some were all gonna die and maggots are gonna eat ya lol. You also have to take into account target markets. Independent labels do not have the resources to reach every city every time. Every artist has a different "top 25" markets. With Tech there were "top markets". Now lets think about how many markets there are in the US alone. There is only so much promo to go around. As for you Mr Brush, I would have sent you more material but unfortunately Syracuse/Rochester were not on other lists. As were other markets that feel they were slighted.

Any intelligent person can expect that you can't be expected to send promo to everyone that asks. The thing that got alot of people bothered was that there were many people that were promised promo, if not from you, then from Shawn K. If an explanation was given like the one you are giving now, there wouldn't be as many issues.
I had already sent you many messages before, and to Shawn, and I had been promised promo. Shawn K even recently made a bulletin on MySpace asking for dedicated people that wanted to do promo to contact him. So what did I do? I messaged him, he read it, and I got no response.
So far this year, for all the releases that have come out I have recieved 0 promo from you. The only promo stuff that I got was a box of Strange Music 08 samplers, a box of Prozak/ Tech samplers and the box of Prozak fliers. But those weren't from you, I got those during the Fire And Ice tour after talking with Prozak after the Worcester, MA show.
Point taken. I will look at the logs to see why there was nothing shipped. I will make sure to look into it immediately. I have a little more time to catch up on it and help Britton to manage it now.
One of the things we did was to collect as many willing street team members as possible so that we could try and pick the most responsible people. Problem is we got bombarded with so many people to sort through. I think we have a better idea now of who can be relied on so it will get better.

My point wasn't intended to criticize the work you had done at Strange. I had been told many times by Lewn how busy you truly were. Alot of frustration from people came from seeing things being sold on eBay that people got. People that really wanted to help for free, when people that were getting things were turning profit from it.
