Street Politics, Street IQ, Street Smarts, etc....Can they be valuable in today's society, not only inside the 'Hood' the 'Ghetto' or other proverty stricken areas, but outside as well? (This isn't limited to these places just saying). Is it or could it be a valuable function in society?

It's a funny question, but I'm serious, what do you guys think?

My uncle for example never finished highschool and had no further education and yet he's the only rich family member I have. Reason is he knows how to talk to people, knows how to bullshit. That goes a long way in the business world.

I've been arguing with a lot of people on the subject of what exactly of value there is in hip-hop music. Of course we're talking about people who have no idea who Jeru The Damaja is for example, and who only know the bling bling and gangsta images from the popular media.

My thesis is that even the most ignorant "hood" kind of hip-hop tells you a lot of very important things, you just need to be able to look a little bit below the surface.

The idea is that the "hood" is actually the best representation of what modern society really is, only stripped down from the fake behavioral restrictions imposed on people with well-paid jobs and good education. In other words the hustling for the cars, money and hoes is what everybody is about, and the are no rules in the game, we just prefer to ignore this reality and pretend that we live according to some high "morals".

So what you say is 100% true.
