I have a problem, when I mute a channel and then unmute it, the volume spikes out of control. so an example is if im mixing ill solo the kick, then ill unmute the snare and as soon as i do it, the next time its triggered its about 20x's louder then what the volume is set and then it will go back to normal.
same thing with when i load a vst while i have my sequence playing, as soon as the vst opens the sound just spikes like a mofo. has anyone had this problem or know of a solution? its hard to mix at any level because even if its quiet the volume gets to the point where it pierces my ears.
i use cubase SX2 M-Audio monitors and M-Audio delta 44 and a Barfinger mixer. computer is home built 2.8 processor with a gig of ram and a 70 + 20 gig hard drive.
