naw, actually starbucks donates a shitload and does a lot of programs ya'll don't know aobut.
they donate almost a fifth(usually,sometimes less, sometimes more but averaging 1/5) of their pastries to blood banks, homeless shelters etc.
then, they have programs for all their 'partners' that work there, part time or not, that go to school full time, to me, there was a demand for a good place to work for students(there are most students than ever before going to college) and benefits as well.
they got a shitload of things they do for the people they buy the beans from, and they pay like some ridiculous amount more for the beans they get cause of the quality and basic ethical treatment, they charge 4 bucks for a tall ass latte, because americans can afford this since they've fucked over so many other countries economical development.

so.....to me, its not big deal, and i don't feel bad charging for that shit, its deserved, adn its their fault these motherfuckers are addicted to caffeine lol.
i work there and id on't drink a damn sip of caffeine, cause i know what it does to you.
but yeah you wouldn't believe the decline of customers we've gotten from bein jam packed every morning for 3 hours straight to barely a line forming all day long.
but like i said, i'm gettin out at the end of this month and gonna move so i don't give a fuck.

They were thinking about reducing the number of stores that they were planning on opening, not closing ones already operating. Closing them became the best move because they werent generating their normal revenues because of the recession.
If the economy was still operating like it was 2002-2006, they would be closing no stores, and continue with their business plan and model. Of course there is a point where growth will become stagnant and actually decline, however in a normal economy, I don't believe they would of hit that point........yet.
It is what it is. From Investment Banks to Auto Manufacturers to Coffee Shops, the sub-prime disaster and the recession that followed has had to make every Corporation do some serious internal cleaning, and drastically change the way they are doing business.

I think you need to educate yourself on fair trade policies, labor relations, economic imperialism in general and globalization. It's like saying because Microsoft donates lots of money here and there that they are good because of it. Further, lots of their donations go directly to the terrorist state Israel to fund genocide, Howard Shultz is a Zionist himself which is widely known.
