just got one today.
got pulled over. cop asks my speed and i say "40 mph" (i was in a 35mph zone.) the cop says he has me on the radar at 49 mph.
so after i get the ticket i ask to see the radar gun. he says sure and when we go and look at it the locked speed on the gun screen says 41mph. I ask him about the disconnect on my ticket and his gun and he gave me some sorry song and dance. I said "if you can lock a speed in where is mine."

will this hold water. do the cops even show up when you have went to fight a ticket?

Some times they do some times they don't.

I've had more speeding tickets then I can count. I get several a year.

But I haven't had one go on my record for the last four or five years. And there is a reason for this. This reason is called my lawyer.

I use to simply challenge them in court, without a lawyer. I had about a 50/50 record. It's all up to the judge.

My advice, and I cannot stress this enough, is to get a lawyer. They are guaranteed to get you off the hook (when it comes to shit like speeding tickets, they know all the little tricks).

You'll pay around $200-$250 (depending on the lawyer) but if you're concerned about it not showing up on your record, it's totally worth it.

If you have a good record, and you don't really give a shit, then perhaps gambling on representing yourself isn't that much of a risk.

My Bro would get tickets all the time riding his motorcycle, and fought all of them, and always won (of course his club had a great litigator on their side). One of his favorite tweaks for getting out of a ticket is to get the cops name, and then find out when his vacation time is, usually PDs have to post them for the public. Then you schedule your court date for that time. 9 times out of 10 the cop won't even show.

I got a ticket for going ten over in a 25, the fucking ticket was 101. So they send me the ticket all that shit and offer me the option to write in contesting the ticket. So I am thinking that would be perfect, I would be saving the court time by just reading my contest then going in and talking to a judge.

I got the fucking ticket back 89 bucks.

You can also defer a ticket where you pay the fine and not get a ticket for a year, then the ticket wont show up on your record. Thats what I should of done. Im a dumbass.

fight any ticket you get even if you are dead wrong...if the cop doesnt show up to court it gets dropped and even if the cop shows up and you are guilty, you will get the fine reduced 99% of the time...
