I support them also because my nephew is the group (goldie). However 5000 the first week is LOW when you're on a major. Yes the album was pushed back but they should have kept the OLD album. Thats the one I thought they would release but I guess I was wrong. They had a chance to opt out of the contract on several occassions due to virgin not meeting deadlines. They didn't and now it's gonna hurt them. I can't say they werent getting promotions but I ONLY saw them in ONE newspaper ad.

So lets see two apperances on lex in the city, numerous shows in puerto rico, a month on the road, 2 videos, summer jam, AND 1 basketball, numerous shows, radio play (they busted the billboard 100 for singles), number 2 video on yahoo (just behind usher), deal with a shoe store to play hyphy 24-7, MADDEN 2003 and only 5000 sold the first week.....

promotions and marketing is the only way they will really get good sales numbers the high end promotions that were mentioned only works when you have a name for yourself and have proven you can move product,ie the video,and summer jam apperances,but the federation = street music and you must take it to the streets and ghetto's of america!not puerto rico! heres thier target markets if they would have gotten a budget to promote it for themselves!

5k sold not bad for early numbers but it will climb but since the bay reviews have been really bad ,it will propably wind up selling more outside of the bay,the federation will propably do okay in the numbers game but the industry knows that what ever the soundscan number is 'its only half of the whole number,most majors do buy backs or pay for soundscan,its up to the bay to get these numbers up there are millions in the bay its not that hard ,but love loyalty and quality will play a part in the next to blow up out of the bay with out all the elements it wont happen..........

marketing=100%
promotions=100%
quality=100%
=the winning formula

I dont know man, 5000??? you figure with all the people that listen to music in the Bay alone, and constantly talk about having to support the rappers, all that stuff, that 5000 isnt very much

5000 units aint even payin for that Twista Verse they got on there. It sure as hell wouldnt pay for 18 Ric Rock beats if they didnt get em for free. Whoever said 5k was good is a moron. This album flopped big time. Like someone else posted they could have sold 5k out the trunk by now and kept all the loot. What a disapointment. I hope the numbers rise though. I like the album at least.

just wait for the mtv special (if it really happens) and the numbers will jump. it is typical for new artists to take several months before they start to really sell

^^If you happen to know, how many albums do they owe Virgin after this one?
APPRX 2-4 IF THEY KEEP THE OPTION. THEY SHOULD HAVE OPTED OUT OF THE CONTRACT WHEN VIRGIN FAILED TO MEET THE DEADLINE. THEY ARE CURRENTLY IN CHICAGO BTW.

Yes you must take it to the streets but from what I see nothing wrong with going to puerto rico. Rap/ hip hop is big overseas (although rico is still considered the use). It could be a case where they are unheard of in america but kingpins in other countries (like david hasselhoof for example). I don't believe that High end promotions only work when you have a name for yourself. Everyday we see new unheard of artist who have no name or cred at selling yet they have a budget. A lot of times it's on what they THINK ("they" being the record company and marketing gurus) will sale.

every spot you have just named they already hit. Some spots they hit more than once.

THOSE ARE THE PRIME CITIES FOR BAY AREA PROMOTIONS!

Not to mention parts of Idaho, Portland and Washington.

THEY NEED A FEDERATION VAN AND

They have one.

100K FLYERS
50K POSTERS
10K STICKERS
10K CD SNIPPETS AND
500-WAX 12 INCH

In some cities flyers/posters can't be posted (vallejo is an example). If you post a flyer you run the risk of catching a fine. I agree with getting the material on vinyl (like they did) and joining the record pools but flyers and posters are actually poor advertisement now days. You have to consider how it ties into the music and if the poster can generate a SALE because after all thats what it's about. Generating LEADS that turn into SALES. If not all you have is a poster.....

AND HIT THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS THATS HOW YOU GET YOUR PAPER ON THE ROAD AND GET YOUR NUMBERS CRACCIN.

Well they have been on the road but they've been on the road tuff since the album dropped.

You have EXCELLENT business savy my friend. I like that. You show where someone is lacking and what they can do to IMPROVE the sales because after all they do want to improve the sales right? You also list stats and what you have done. Thats good advertising and self promotion. So good I think I might hit you up in regards to the Mack Hand projects.
