a few sites have over 250 units missed because of pirated music. i love music and everything, but when people have music before or the day of it's release just to hear it defeats the purpose of the musician's career. go buy a mother fucking cd.

That's a good number considering the new standards. We ALL ship (send out the stores) a certain amount, but how much you sell is another story. Hell, T.W.S. sold 15K units(documented for future negotiation purposes) at my live events last year, but as far as scanned retail goes? Maybe five or six....maybe.

The point is Fab isn't doing anything wrong. That's a nice number in these times. The Mid-90's sales figure is officially gone. It's lost two of it's zeros. Fab is in a good place. Sure, a lot of my fellow " Elder Statesmen" don't agree with the most of his content and neither do I, but I think he's STILL growing and he has the potential to pass the limits the people around him are trying to set for him......including his "fans".

But then again, what do I know.

First off, congrats to the big homie FAB.

T-Kash, you said it well. Times are different and his sales are solid considering all the circumstances.

Props for giving an unbiased opinion on the subject.

I noticed a couple of you talked about Myspace and "how could he not have done better numbers with the Myspace exposure?"....the fact of the matter is, unless you're a major artist, myspace isn't gonna cause a noticeable increase in ALBUM sales. This is something that has been talked about countless times around my office and in plenty of meetings, myspace is best used to promote shows, sell merchandise and for other shit that you aren't counting on money to come in for. The same songs that you have on your page, are the same ones that, people who sit on a computer and go on myspace 5 hours a day, are going to download and not go out and buy.

And look at the visual if you are a music fan and see this album being promoted. It's a grown ass man, with a dumb ass look on his face, wearing a helmet and holding a lunchbox. WHO THE HELL IS GONNA BUY THAT IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHO HE IS?? I'm a fan of FAB's music and bought the album(didn't think it was great, but still will support future projects), but I know that his next album will be better marketed and packaged.

doesnt he have a radio show???
doesnt wild 949 promote him? i dont get it...
how could he only sell 4k?
In most cases, it comes down to two FCC mandates: Payola and Advocacy. Just recently, the clamp tightened on stations to stop advocating( telling you to do something that could result in a circumstance they'd be liable for) certain things, and if they did, since he has a show on the air at the station, they(kyld) could be charged with payola practices if they advocate the actual process of going and getting the cd.Someone could argue that he's being used to bring in and/or save money for the station if they could show a spot in the books where money should have been spent to pay him but was held back for no real reason other than that, which federal courts deem to be paying yourself. On most terms (by law) they must pay him DIRECTLY in the form of money for his show , not promo or indirect payments such as concerts and live event leads, hence the term "Payola" . The smart thing to do is to have the CD advocate the radio show, because there are no laws against labels promoting shows on their own platform. Plus, fans who learn about one will cross-promote the other by default.

This may be why, maybe not.

But again.....lol....what do I know.

That's a FLOP. Some of you are on one. Anyone who has a high quality video on MTV, own radio show, and only sells a little over 4,000 is considered a flop.

But let's look at the bright side. At least he'll have enough money to pay back his music video director now.

How is he hating? Yall need to ease up with that shit. Let the man have is mothafuckin opinion without throwing that bullshit around. I think selling 4000 albums is not good first week or not. He has a major distribution deal. There is no excuse. Yall settle for anything I swear.

He had a video for a song that wasnt even on this album, the video didnt even make it to MTV because it was banned before they showed it and the money for the video has to do with atlantic deal, not a cd that out on SMC/Thizz.

He made three statements about a cd and all three were incorrect. If your going to talk down on something, at least KNOW what your talking about first.

And this was cd DID NOT have major distribution. Can you show me a independent rap cd that sold more besides Tech Nine in the last year?

Ummm I saw the Ghost Ride it Video on MTV Jams TWICE. So what are you talking about? You're the one who needs to get your 411 strait. Independent Rap CD that sold more? I'd be here for days naming people. The hell you talking about? You can't honestly believe he's sold more than any independent artist? LOL.

MTV Jams is not the regular MTV. Being on MTV 2 isnt the same promotion as being on MTV. You cant honestly tell me there isnt a difference.

See this thread here, we are talking about FAB's first week sales. I said name a independent rap that has sold more, meaning in its first week since that is what is being discussed. It is that hard to figure out?

It aint as great as other people in history have done but for an indie bay album, 4k already is good. Someone posted soundscans for saying that San Quinns the Rock sold 17967. Fab Sold 12553 with son of a pimp and Big Rich Sold 4382. So to be at 4k already is doin it big. To everyone whos sayin he had a major video and shit, not really, it was on MTJams and then got pulled and it was for another album newayz

oh and how many of u DLed it
