I didnt realize I was lookin at a Sony camera, I was lookin at Canon N Nikon then came across this. Basically the same story, beginner lookin for a good camera to start with.
Employee told me it would be great for beginners til you advance yourself. Jus wonderin what you guys think 1st. About $780, which is a lil too high. IF any other camera suggest besides this would be great.

Nikon and Canon have alot of lens available for them, Dont know about Sony.

I still own the Nikon d40 i first started with, i'd highly recommend it. Spend the 300-400 for a nikon d40 and buy yourself some nice lens, invest in the lens not the camera itself. Good lens will last forever and outlast your camera body.

I hit another store and same thing happened, they say to start off wit a Sony because the stablizer (?) is in the base/the camera itself which Canon and Nikon is in the lenses, thats what they both said.
I took my sis. to help me N she was surprised about Sony but didnt know or heard nothing about them. That other store recommended Sony A330.
How is the Nikon D40 on speed??? I thinkin I might use it on movement and during the night. Thanks for the info, jus giving you what they told me.

I have a sony DSLR (A300) camera and I think it's dope. It's basically a minolta cause sony bought them out and used there design. Another plus is you can use old minolta lenses (A-mount) and they work perfectly on the sony. Ain't nobody can say minolta didn't have some classic lenses. The minolta lenses are also hella cheap off craigslist.

Here go a couple pics I took with it. Most of them with the minolta f/1.7 50mm which cost me like 50 bucks.

I can only comment on Nikon because that's all i've used, but you can't really go wrong with whatever you get. It's not the camera it's the person behind the camera that makes a good picture.

i use the canon xsi, i like it cuz it handles higher iso's really good but stops at iso1600, can't speak on any other cameras. check out www.dpreview.com for reviews on most cameras, just be prepared for a lot of reading.

Not really much difference I think between the two.. that I know from the top of my head the D40 has 6MP and the D40X has 10MP which you don't really see with the naked eye unless you print them out of bus stop commerical ads.. there are maybe one or two more differences but you must have to google those.. or someone else will fill them in here...
