clean cuts....what is your method????

i use magic wand to get most of my object selected then i switch to mask mode and use eraser and paint tools to refine my selection.....then i switch bacc to normal mode and copy/paste my selection.....out of all the methods ive tried ive found this one the most efficient but im open to try something new if you do it different....

Not gonna use the ones up now lol but thanks, I'd also like to know to what method you use? I just use the eraser tool, work fine with me.

i used to do it like that but i found it inefficient because if in the end i find i erased too much its a lot harder to bacc tracc to where i was at when i made the mistake and if my history memory isnt set that high i might not be able to go bacc at all....or maybe its all good except one single part but i have to bacc tracc through all the good shit to get to that one part i erased and do it all over.....wand tool and mask mode make it easier to work with.......

I know what you mean, for that I leave the origianl hidden underneath the cut and if I fuck up and can't "ctrl+alt+z" enough, make a copy of that one and cut that part out and merge it with the cut then re cut it. It takes time but i like it.

actually im tripping i dont use magic wand unless the baccground is solid white or something like that....i meant to say magnetic lasso tool....i use that to select most of what i can then use mask mode and paint/eraser to refine it.....

pen tool and a vector mask, and if needed, a layer mask as well. cleanest cuts because the edges are vector and not bitmap, and you can easily edit the cut out and be able to change the size of the layer without losing the crisp edge.

magnetic lasso is crap...especially if its close to the edge...it only works well w/ plain solid bgs...

thats why i said i use it just to make a selection of the majority of what im cutting but then i switch to mask mode and use other tools to refine what i already have selected.....

i usually leave an original copy of the photo then use the magic lasso, wand, and eraser. The lasso works very well for me as long as I alter its options..I usually up the points alot, lower the tolerance..but it definetly doesnt work with really fine work. Using masks sounds like a cool idea tho imma fuck around wit it.
