Bleak, brutal and bloody as hell, angsty throwback hack-'em-up Solomon Kane kicks a raging new life into the swords-and-scorcery genre -- largely thanks to a tremendous performance from James Purefoy. Created by Conan The Barbarian author Robert E Howard, Kane is a battle-hardened Puritan anti-hero who wanders the 17th-century world looking for evil to vanquish. He used to have God on his side. Now he's got a big sword and a bad attitude.

Surprisingly I enjoyed this movie. I thought the action scenes were very well done...there are little things I noticed that gave it more of a real feel to it (besides obviously sorcery, god, devil etc.) for example there is a scene where Solomon chopped this dudes head off, instead of a clean swipe one would expect like in Conan he had to hack the head a solid three times to cut through the spine. lol.

This is one of those films, if you can get into sorcery and the likes and just enjoy action, it's pretty dope. Not typically my genre of film to watch but I liked this one. Story was decent enough although a little predictable but that's expected, acting was good for the most part except the dialogue at times was pretty weak, the "bad guys" definitely looked the part. The action was great as were the horror driven scenes and the various creatures.

They just don't make movies like this anymore. Its like a modern day 80's movie, if that makes any sense.

I recommend for download. 7.5/10.
