I know I am. I handle most of my own production right now and up till now, but I'll be working with Engineer Beats out of Vancouver, BC. The dude is seriously nutty on production. You can check him out at http://www.engineerbeats.com. I have no problem with investing money, especially into a good producer. My problem is finding the right people to mix and master the music.

I am. If there's one thing I've learned so far in this game it's that nothing comes for free. Most of the time at least. That should go without me even saying. If you have somebody you know who will hook it up on the production tip or you make beats yourself, more power to you. But if you don't, don't expect a bunch of handouts, because you're not gonna get any.

OVERALL, I BELIEVE IN CROSS-PROMOTIONS. BUT WHEN SOMEBODY THINK THEY CAN HAVE HANDOUTS LIKE GRYNCH JUS SAID(AND THERE IS ALOT OF'M IN THE NW)- THATS WHY THERE IN THAT POSITION...

Look this is the deal i aint paying a producer shit if he aint got a track record. that mean's sold records world wide not just to his homies. it takes 2 people to make a cut thats the mc and the producer. he needs me like i need him, let me see him put out a record wit just beats and see how many he gets off.(none) if that worked timberland and every other cat would have beat only cd's out. the point is if you pay the producer you got to know that people will pick that joint up because he produced it (like Dre) when you see his name you know it got to be cool to fuck wit.

"i aint paying a producer shit if he aint got a track record."

my point exactly. considering we have about a million record labels in the northwest and only have about 4-5 REAL releases a year its no wonder we are in the stone age. not picking on anyone because that attitude is understandable but im trying to figure out where the little guy can get on at without having to do everything under the sun.

You get what u pay for. . . . .if you're creating a product for sale, u need to spend, get some beats from producers with a track record. if you got a album full of freebies, it'll sound that way. if you dont have a few thousand to get a product to push, you better step up your hustle. if you're a producer who can't make money off a beat, or you're sellin it for $50 it's probably garbage or you got no hustle, unless you're brand new. shit, i know it's its a different business, but i did my first cover for free, and thats the only one. I've charged for everything since. i get cats tellin me all the time "hook me up", "I'll promote us both", "i'm gonna blow up", that's all lovely, but it don't mean shit if I aint gettin broke off from the start. Some dudes don't spend, or they tell me "I aint tryin to spend anything on my cover, my cousin has photoshop" 9 times outta 10, we'll all be able to tell. there's plenty of $ for everybody in the NW, if your makin smart moves to make it. this aint a fuckin hobby, it's a business.
