1 in 10,000 rap artists MIGHT JUST SOMEHOW
MANAGE to make money equivalent to a 9-5.

The question isn't WHAT YOU GONNA
DO IF THIS RAP SHIT DON'T WORK?

It's "WHAT SHOULD YOU HAVE BEEN DOING
WITH ALL YOUR TIME AND WASTED EFFORT?"

if this rap shit dont work..... i'ma still keep rappin cuz unlike 95% of the cats rappin right now i actually love music and gettin paid off it comes secondary to me! but ive been steadily releasing projects, doing features and production, studio engineering, and rocking shows at least once a month since i was 19 years old with very little recognition and let me tell you it feels good as fuck to be able to pay some of my bills by doing what i love!! i hope one day i'll be able to pay ALL my bills based off that but if not ima continue working in the community and making my music like i always have.

Rappers with Deals aren't even making money. A deal is a way to get raped, I hope people in 2011 aren't picking up mics hoping to get rich. You better seriously have another job or a degree or something. I can't go a day without some wack rapper trying to sell me a CD.

i feel u doc truth. Sometime i buy and must admit i dont even listen to tha shit..to many other known rapper cds i downloaded already and aint even heard them yet. Phreaky keep it up with that attitude u will survive. Note i said survive. i guarantee you this though if u put as much time in your music career as u do for a employer (8hrs a day, working when u dont want too and etc) U will make at least enough to survive. Gonna be hard though. As far as ballin off the music biz, dam its possible but not likely. To me know adays the music biz is a steppin stone to other ventures. (movies, fashion, pimping, ha)

only reason them two still eating off it is bc publishing and shows and good investments of they past hits from the era where music was selling. also they have other ventures too. they not making millions off new albums no more.

This is exactly why when I see these up and coming rappers shooting hood videos with fake stacks and jewelry Im like man quit with all these lies because I work a 9 to 5 and have way more bread! But the rap game is a musical WWE that's why I only fuck with the underground!

If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life ;)
no disrespect but thats not true at all. u have alot to learn bra. if your not a lucrative and accurate business man thats tuned & seasoned, have connects to get your foot in the game then you wont be going no where far as music not to mention if u really putting a album out then u need some kind of way to make income to do that rather if its working, pimping hoes, robbing, selling that shit, sugar mama, getting money from parents or family members, partners that believe in you to invest. . u gonna need more then talent bc talent has limits at the end of the day in a era with million rappers bc theres gonna be thousands better then you. u best go to school work or whatever and pray you get some kind of break with your music.

If you want to make money..make it a business, not a conversation piece. I was able to build a clientele and network that now allows me to live off of my music. Becoming big and making money are two separate things that can go hand in hand with each other. There are plenty of producers who own studios who may not got there foot in the industry per-say but make a great living off the services provided by the studio. In do time everything will open up and you should have no problem making money if you invest time and really treat it like a business...that even means cutting people/friends out that are looking for a free ride.

If you want to make money, your in the wrong business. I tell those who have came too far to come back... keep pushing. I tell the young hittaz give themselves a time frame to make it happen. If you haven't made an impact in x amount of years find another hustle.

this remind me of the "which rappers have 9 to 5's" thread a while back....i still think it would be weird to walk into Subway and have one of my favorite bay rappers be like "Hi what can i get for you today? " and be stunned like...."aint you J Stalin ?" or have Tay come up behind me and ask me if I need assistance at Home Depot...
