The Unexpected--U DIDN'T KNOW?!?--The Kill-A-Hoes came back together and came w/ some songs that were as good as the stuff they did during the '95/'96 era (if not better). E-Sicc and Big Mack in particular took charge in a way I didn't expect. Fun and easy to drive to...
Authentic--SOLO ALBUM (from 2002)--Authentic, A.K.A. Devo Tha Comissiona is a diverse lyricist who could probably make the East stand up and take notice if promoted right...Nice mixture of basement-y sounds with Devo's flows and guests like Mr. Kee, Ghazi, and of course, Figgaro, Telly Mac, D-Moe, and Seff. Nice CD.
B-Legit--HEMPIN' AIN'T EASY--sure, it's no HEMP MUSEUM, but B-La basically delivered the goods here as far as bumpin', Mob-style beats and playaistic lyrics. Part of the problem may have been the number of times this CD was pushed back. B-La himself told MURDER DOG that much of it was recorded in '98/'99 and was supposed to come out back then, so some of it may have seemed dated when it finally came out (in 2000), but I like it...
N2Deep--SLIGHTLY PIMPISH, MOSTLY DOGGISH--this CD is basically of a piece with every other N2Deep CD out there, which means it's very even and consistent from start to finish. But it seems like this one doesn't get talked about as much as THE GOLDEN STATE or BACK TO THE HOTEL. "I Am", "Back In The Day", "Perro", "Howda", "Maria", great features from PSD, Mac Dre, Beesh, Merciless, Young Dru and others--what more could you ask for?
PEACE!
