I dont think it will hurt anything as far as the subs, but you get what you pay for more or less...I had a cheap no name DVD in a car and it caught on fire. But dont do that, dont have a nice set up and plug something cheap in just to finish, Id wait and get something nice.

Too bad there isn't a forum for this
I agree.

I had a cole system there for a couple years but the best thing was the Clarion deck I had. It had an 11 channel built in eq and it made all the difference in the world in sound quality. It got jacked and I replaced it with an Alpine and it didn't sound anywhere near as good.

not familiar enough with that amp without the specs. Impedance matching is SO important. I haven't seen 6 channel amps before. By the sounds of it, that amp isn't gonna push them too hard though. You might be better off just hooking up 1 if you can bridge the amp but it really matters on the impedance of the amp and the speakers you have

KICKER IX 406 6 channel
6x55w Rms/14.4v/4 ohms /
THD : 0.085%
Diamensions : 48.2cm / l : 24.1cm / h : 6.3cm
FR : 20Hz-20000hz
Output volume?? : 95 dB
Sub Crossover : 18dB, 70Hz-110hz
Bass boost : +18dB fixed at 40Hz
Treble boost : +12dB fixed at 18000Hz

what JL subs are they? JL doesnt make "comp" speakers that would be kicker...it could be the w7s which jl calls their competition speakers...?

your amp is 300+ watt rms if its bridgeable, that would be barely enough to run a knock off 12 so of course you wouldnt push no JL W series with it.....if its one of thier older models you could probably push 1 of em from that bridged amp

whatever you choose to get, check amazon. I got my in dash pioneer AVIC F90BT for half of what crutchfield was asking, as well as my amp and sub.

What model JL subs? I got 2 12w6v2's and these sound great, I'm pushin em with a oldschool rockford 800 watts. Look for a head unit that will push 4-6 volts through the preouts, then you can put the amp's gain lower and get better sounding output.

any OLD SCHOOL rockford amp pushes 4 times as hard as a current 800 watt amp. These new amps are bs man. Saying they're a 1000 watts rms is a f'n lie. You definitely get what you pay for with amps now a days.

I've always kinda stuck to the rule, if the amp wasn't at least 1 dollar per amp rms original price, you're buying some b.s. There are some rare exceptions to that rule but it's pretty true mostly.

I had a class AB amp, Zapco AG 350 that pushed 2 12" kicker solo barics HARD. Broke 2 boxes with that crap. Amp was super stable til someone broke it. Zapco used to be sick
