Doey Rock might be a new name to most people’s memory banks but he is far from a rookie to the rap game. Doey pronounced Doe-E, has been doing his thing out of Sacramento for a good minute now. As a youngster fresh out of high school, Doey Rock had the privilege of being amongst the likes of Wu-Tang and Tha Dogg Pound and even had a track with Raekwon back in ‘97. Doey understands that he was blessed to see a lot of things early in his career but says that, “At the end of the day I wasn’t really gettin’ taught anything, I was just rappin’, eatin’ cats up and doin’ all that. I was just rappin’ though.”

During the first several years of Doey’s pursuit to success as a rapper, he attributes his minimal acclaim to “making bad decisions.” Now, at the make it or break it age of 29, Doey is at the point where he can’t afford to make any more bad decisions. He recently took a huge step towards insuring he doesn’t follow the same path by signing an artist deal with E-40’s label, Sick Wit It Records. After releasing his independent album titled Soul on Fire, Doey is in the making of his biggest drop, titled The Montana Express, which is a play off Joe Montana and “Quarterbackin’.”

Doey feels that his versatility as an emcee is what is going to set him apart from the over populated rap industry. “If you listen to my bars there is obviously East Coast influence, Southern influence, and I was raised in Northern California so of course that’s gonna come out. I’m just really rounded.” With his versatile style, Doey has his sites on expanding his career beyond the Bay Area and plans on taking the Montana Express all the way there. “Ima go a thousand percent on every project, every bar, so just look for the train and get on.”
