I'd take Urlacher over Merriman anyday. Urlacher used to blitz too and was very effective in doing so... Like 06 said when they switched to the Cover 2 he's been used more as a pass defender taking away the deep middle of the field.

Urlacher has a bigger impact on the game. Merriman is a very good pass rusher. Urlacher does more than just pass rush though...

at this point in both thier careers urlacher is more rounded. he hasnt had a sack in 4 yrs i think. but merriman is getting better on pass coverage and he is already great on run d.

Urlacher didn't do a whole lot either though.

actually both of them had big games, the stats may not show but they both did things on the field that altered plays

Well yeah I meant stat wise. Merriman had a shitload of hurried passes caused. It's just when you get the two best LBs in the game you expect a pick or a fumble caused or something.
