SAN FRANCISCO -- A San Francisco police officer is dead after a gunfight Friday night in the city's Sunset district that also killed the suspect. The officer was taken to San Francisco General Hospital after being shot in the head at around 8:30 Fridayt night. He died a few hours later. The shootings occurred as the officer and tried to serve a felony warrant on a suspect described as armed and dangerous. The officers were searching for the suspect when the shootout erupted in the quiet neighborhood. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shootings was continuing.

SAN FRANCISCO A San Francisco police officer was shot and wounded Friday night in the city's Sunset District, and the suspect in the shooting was also shot and apparently killed.

The shootings happened around 8:30 p.m. on 25th Avenue between Lawton and Moraga streets.

One officer was wounded and taken to San Francisco General Hospital. His condition or name were not released.

San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong was at the hospital late Friday night and was expected to make a statement to reporters about the condition of the officer.

The apparent suspect in the officer shooting was shot and killed, police said.

The shootings occurred as the officer and his partner tried to serve a felony warrant on a suspect described as armed and dangerous.

The officers were searching for the suspect when the shootout erupted in a backyard.

Police remained on the scene Friday night and were investigating the incident.

I just got harrassed by the boegs in the sunset district yesterday. I wonder if its the same officers that were involved? they were some unders.
