so is this a "family" movie then

no action ?

and u dont like will smith movies ?

mostly every movie hes made i've seen .. they've either not been that bad .. or there pretty good ..

well .. 2 me
Far from a family movie. Oldboy is very violent and a pretty dark movie overall.

Will Smith is and always has been mediocre, at best, actor. I buy a lot of movies and I don't own a single one he has ever been in. I did like the first MIB though but I don't own it. That's about it.

Umm..yeah, sucks your friend let you borrow a dubbed version. Everyone I've ever seen has been english subtitles. I hate dubbed movies... they annoy me to no end.

You are also maybe the 2nd person I know to say it was just alright. Out of curiosity what are some of your favorite foreign movies? Also favorites that have came out the past few years in theaters?

oldboys a cool flick...It doesnt need to be remade, all these "writers" need to sit in a room, smoke a joint, and not leave till they come up with an original idea, remakes of anything are seriously played out at this point....

I liked The Departed a lot. I liked it just as much as Infernal Affairs if maybe not even a little more because of my Irish heritage bias.

Besides that I can't think of a single foreign movie that has been made into a even decent American movie.

Dubbed versions of foreign films = epic fail

If you cant read subtitles, then you may be mentally disabled. Reading is taught in the 1st grade.

Anyways, i hope something horrible happens to Spielberg if they go through a remake of this movie.

how bout you all stop hating and just dont watch the movie. is this remake gonna make the original worse, or change it in any way? no, so just keep it moving, keep to watching your original, and people that enjoy the remake, let them have that.

Oldboy was a koo movie, not my favorite Korean movie by a long shot, but it was aight. Dayum tho, America steals our phones and now our movies, got dayum. GM even wanna take over our shitty ass cars, aint that a muhfucka. I don't think the movies translate well into English and American culture tho, shit's just weird.

lol @ stop hating. Seriously, shut the fuck up. You make yourself look like a fucking idiot saying that.

When someone destroys a classic film for the sake of making money in the US because they can't come up with fresh and new ideas it does piss me off. It's 1/2 the reason American cinema is such crap for the most part.

Oldboy was an instant classic for sure.

I cant even imagine how gay the remake is gonna be. I dont understand WHY they have to remake a movie why cant they just come up with their own concept and spend those millions of dollars on an original concept instead of something that has already been done.

You can already watch this film with subtitles there is no real need for dubbing unless you cant read. Films being in their original language are far better especially horrors since it like makes it feel raw-ish i guess.

This director is bad-ass if im correct then isnt this the same guy who made Battle Royale? That movie was sick also.

Oldboy and Battle Royale's director?? HELL muthafuckin no. Battle Royale, which was a koo flick, is a muthafuckin japanese movie. Oldboy's Korean, Oldboy's director been directing Korean movies, and I don't know shit about the japanese director, except his ass is from over there.

Well, in most cases my opinion when it comes to film is irellevant. Im not the biggest movie watcher. I watch what people lend me or tell me to rent. When I go to the movies with people, I follow and give a chance to whatever theyre trying to see. I dont have much time for movies, so nobody should really trip on my opinion. I will admit though, that being that the version I saw was voiced over, couldve greatly affcted my view on oldboy. The voice and the thoughts kinda just didnt feel right.

Any Will Smith movie becomes a 'Will Smith' movie.

Simply because thats the size of his ego.

PS
Compare:

1. Number of good movies in the 80s
2. Number of good movies in the 90s
3. Number of good movies 2000-Today

After 2010 There will be one good movie in the entire decade spanning 2010-2020. One.

And thats the problem...capitalism in full fuckin force.

ANYWAYS

Youre missing the point of the rant. Its just NOT NEEDED. Of course posting about it wont DO anything, but that means that people like Nutt and myself, cant be MAD about it? We cant think out loud? Last time I checked, the internet was a place to SHARE and EXPRESS opinions?

On top of all that, who said yuou even had to click on this thread? Dont be a hypocrite.
