I doubt the funds for a Congressperson's car come from the same funds as the police cars.
But you're right, it's more than $25K, about $32K-$45K depending on your options.
By the way, police vehicles are obviously going to be like that seeing the way they use them is quite different than just driving to or from Capitol Hill or the state capitol and back to your home. Police drive those things probably 18 hours per day (or they are running that much)--so they're getting way more use out of the money they are paying.
Even if I had left out the example of the police, the point is still good. The people who work in Congress aren't driving $50K Escalades. They're driving $25K Chargers. I mean FUCK, do you know how much a HONDA ACCORD costs brand new? The
2008 Honda Accord is $21K-30K (the high end costs more than the high end Charger).
So really, besides the fact that they are spending money to get the people who YOU/the citizens voted for to office on everyone's tax dollar, what is there to complain about? Not much....if it's that big of a deal, all of you from California should be hitting up your state reps and attorney general to see what you can do about them "frivolously" spending your tax dollars on a
brand new $25K car...I'd just be happy they aren't spending $25K plus on EVERY car.
Either way, they are going to spend your tax dollars on that stuff. I for one, would rather have them buy a $25K car, than a $50K Escalade or other SUV or something like that.
