Hispanic is used to describe people from countries that were once under Spanish rule (Mexico, South America, and Central America)...where Spanish is the primary language.

LATINO, contrary to popular belief, refers to countries or cultures once under Roman rule. These include Italy, Spain, and France. Brazilians are also considered Latino.

Mulatto is black and white...while Mestizo refers to Indians from Mexico and other "Latin" countries producing a child with a White European.

I think the biggest misconception here is that Latino people are from south of the United States. When in reality, Latino refers to those with latin roots.

What do you mean "just like whites"? Spanish people ARE white...they are from Europe...right next to Portugal and France. NOBODY thinks Spaniards are Latino because the world has it fucked up. I'm aware of that. When I say "bring it up with the people who..", it means there was a group who decided on this shit. I'm not talking white, black, brown, purple, or pink...I'm talking about the people who decided "race" was a good idea...the group who made it possible. As a "white" person, I did not have any say in this matter...nor did my parents...or my grandparents. That means a select group came up with the idea and ran with it. Maybe the government?

I don't think ANYBODY should be considered white. Are you reading what I'm saying? I don't agree with putting people in groups like that. People should be called what they are. If you're Mexican, you're Mexican...if you're Japanese, you're Japanese...etc. etc.

How retarded is it to call a group of people BLACK when none of them are BLACK? How retarded is it to call people white when some have dark skin? My grandfather had olive complexion, but people want to call him "white"? I can't dig that.

If I'm ever asked what one of my boys is, I say what they are. Most folks answer with a skin tone, I answer with "Puerto Rican", "African", "Jamaican", "Mexican", "Italian", "English", etc.

First of all, if you had read and understood the post you responded to, you wouldn't have needed to "drop knowledge".

I said, "That statement is a bullshit generalization...and just as fucked up as saying "all (black, asian, mexican, etc) people....."

I wasn't saying that's how I group people...but how others group people. In the Bay Area, where I'm from, and where retardation is as popular as Napa Valley wine, there is white, black, mexican, and Asian. I'm not saying it's right...I was just saying that's how it is...and that it's fucked up.
