I wouldn't say that to your homie because I keep that word out my vocabulary. The word has some hateful connotations to it and it doesn't matter if it's 'nigger' or 'nigga', so why use it?

However, if some black folks want to try and turn the meaning around I would argue that they should not be getting upset that folks of another color try and do the same thing. The thing is the word is going to be forever linked to hate and truthfully I don't think it's wrong for black folks to get upset over it's use. But if that's the case then they should really stop and reflect upon why they feel its okay to call themselves by that word. As Dhadnot has pointed out black folks have been calling themselves 'niggas' since slavery, and it hasn't always been on some empowerment shit.

But seriously who am I to judge, these are just my thoughts on it.

My ancestors were Irish, and Cherokee... Great-Grandmother was full blooded Cherokee, but my question is did your ancestors say that to one another? I know the Irish were called "white n*ggers", because they were looked as lower class people, but I don't think any of them called each other that.
