Softy interviewed Kerney this week on KJR and he said for the last couple weeks he's been hooking himself up to a machine that sends some sort of current through his body and makes his adrenaline skyrocket or some shit. whatever he's doing it seems to be working
That might be the stim machine. I had to be hooked up for that thing for about half an hour for a month after I broke my ankle. It sends strong shockwaves to a point in the body where there's swelling, and the shockwave just blasts and separates the swelling and you get better. But that thing hurts when they turn the pressure up. I'm not sure the machine is this one b/c I don't know what kind of swelling Kerney's got going on if any.

Softy's the man, best host on KJR by far when you mix analysis w/ comedic value, which is why I listen to sports radio to begin with.

And PS, I flew back for the Arizona game and I'm flying back for the Baltimore game as well (Christmas back home etc).

And I'll just say that Qwest Field was straight ridiculous yesterday. A cold, dark day, that stadium, the Seahawks playing well, the crowd intensity at a playoff level, I don't know there's a team in the entire NFL w/ that kind of home field advantage.
Chiefs do...when they are actually good.

Pacers = losers (in your childhood anyways)
Hoosiers = winners

Well my suspicion regarding out of area fans is really only about one thing : that the reason said team was chosen by said person is simple, winning.

If you were to take a worldwide poll/inventory/survey and write down the number of out of area fans each squad has, and compare the proportions to the number of in area fans each squad has, it would show that the successful teams are far more likely to attract out of area folks. In otherwords, people want to root for winners.

And certainly, I view folks in areas with literally no teams slightly differently than folks in markets with teams. Somebody in Germany pulling for the Dallas Cowboys is different than someone in Spokane, Washington (or the Bay) pulling for them.

But in your case, rooting for one of the 5 most successful NFL franchises, rooting for one of the 5 most successful NCAA basketball teams and rooting for one of the 5 most successful NBA franchises without ever having lived in either squad's area of influence except for the Hoosiers, it's pretty clear there's no coincidence there. Every fan of every team wants to root for a winner, so some take shortcuts.

And the saddest thing to me is that I believe deeply that folks who take these shortcuts are denying themselves (without even knowing it) much of the emotional side of sports.

These folks obviously may be perfectly good, wonderful people, but in the realm of sports, picking ones teams based largely on winning percentage is a character flaw I can't overlook. It removes these people from the category of "sports fan" in general to me.
REAL FUCKIN TALK.

Thats some of the truest shit that has been said on here.

ya i dont remember what the machine was called but he interviewed him in the afternoon on monday right before grozz took over. i remember when softy started on kjr, my dad had me listening to sports radio as a youngster. ive seen softy all around town all the time for sporting events for years. grozz and gas been around for so long too. john clayton (the geeky lookin dude thats always on ESPN and has his own show on saturday on kjr) got his start there too if i remember correctly. those are the four that i like. the other personalities they got arent that great, like elise and ian, and a few others. but it is the only sports radio station in seattle

Absolutely man. I dog on all you Niner fans for acting like you had the division won this year based on winning twice last year, I'll dog on folks for various reasons.

But bottomline, if you guys are from the Sco / Bay and are just rolling with your homegrown football squad where the roots have ran strong from the time you were a kid, there's respect there. That's what it's all about.

Absolutely. Who the #1 and #2 outdoor NFL crowds in terms of noise belong to who knows, but I think there's growing consensus around the league that it's Seattle and KC in whatever order occupying those two spots. I've got a huge amount of respect for Arrowhead, I would love to see a game there someday.

Yeah they've got some shit over the years for the Sue Bird spankin incident (Mitch In the Morning), the "Bigger Dance" female objectification tournament (also Mitch In the Morning), the fact that they were I think the last sports radio station in the country to have never had a non-white male host (now rectified by Elise Woodward's show), but I absolutely love that station.

They got the perfect mix of information and comedy. Softy's my favorite, I remember when Washington lost the Apple Cup and as a result, Softy had to ride a bike from Husky Stadium to Pullman (285 miles).

Seahawks lick balls on the road.

Terrible game. Defensive front played like shit. I didnt like Kelly Jennings on Smith, and the running game.....what else can be said about how fuckin AWFUL it is?

Seahawks look like a one and done team in the playoffs this year, unless they find some miracle running game and consistant pass rush on D.

Oh well, shit happens. Seemed unlikely that GB was going to lose any games anyways so the loss didn't matter much.
Well yeah that is kind of what I was thinking as well. That statement is true as long as Tampa Bay doesn't pass us.

TB is @ SF and vs. CAR, while Seattle is vs. BAL and @ ATL. While TB could drop one of those, I wouldn't bet on it so the Hawks probably need to win both of their games to get a grip on that 3-seed.

That being said, there is obviously a much bigger difference between the 2 and 3 seeds as opposed to the 3 and 4 seeds. I don't know if I'd rather do a vs. NYG and @ DAL or a vs. MIN and @ GB, that's a tough call right there.

Whatever, it never feels good to lose, but I'm glad some have perspective. Today isn't the be all end all w/ this squad.

I don't understand why we switched back to Alexander as our #1. Morris had 4 good games in a row (Cleveland, SF, Chicago, St Louis) and Alexander has looked subpar the last three.

They made a great point on sports radio a few weeks back that Seattle should have sat Alexander, after Morris started to show he could run the ball, until the last 1 or 2 games of the season. That way Alexander could work on healing all his 100 fucking injuries and Morris would get some needed experience. Assuming we made it to the playoffs, Alexander would likely be healthy and Morris would fit a lot better into the offense.

Seems like a great idea to me, I have no idea why the hawks did not do something like that.
