He's the dude who roots for Arizona Wildcats Basketball and Oregon Ducks Football, deeming his allegiance to the Portland TrailBlazers questionable as well.

That's even worse than you rooting for the Dallas Cowboys without having lived in their area.

yeah it went down on sunday, theres nothing like qwest when its crackin. and look seattle can beat anybody in the nfc, whether we make the 2 seed or not. there were alot of people this whole year talkin about seattle wasnt shit, theyre no good all this bullshit and whatd we do? won every division game pretty much minus a pussyfoot alexander messup at the end of the 1st AZ game. true we are only 1-2 against winning teams but thats bcuz of our division and a very close game to CLE. im just saying nobody should doubt this team with this much stronger defense, we have as good a chance as any NFC team
actually they said on espn that they were in good contention to make a run at the super bowl becuz of there team experience and that they came within a couple of plays from goin to the superbowl last year, it wasnt until they got off to that ruff start that people said they werent gonna do shit now there surging and seem like there best football is still to come. i think they can shake some shit up if u ask me. I would love to see Vikings play them in the playoffs

Pacers = losers (in your childhood anyways)
Hoosiers = winners

Well my suspicion regarding out of area fans is really only about one thing : that the reason said team was chosen by said person is simple, winning.

If you were to take a worldwide poll/inventory/survey and write down the number of out of area fans each squad has, and compare the proportions to the number of in area fans each squad has, it would show that the successful teams are far more likely to attract out of area folks. In otherwords, people want to root for winners.

And certainly, I view folks in areas with literally no teams slightly differently than folks in markets with teams. Somebody in Germany pulling for the Dallas Cowboys is different than someone in Spokane, Washington (or the Bay) pulling for them.

But in your case, rooting for one of the 5 most successful NFL franchises, rooting for one of the 5 most successful NCAA basketball teams and rooting for one of the 5 most successful NBA franchises without ever having lived in either squad's area of influence except for the Hoosiers, it's pretty clear there's no coincidence there. Every fan of every team wants to root for a winner, so some take shortcuts.

And the saddest thing to me is that I believe deeply that folks who take these shortcuts are denying themselves (without even knowing it) much of the emotional side of sports.

These folks obviously may be perfectly good, wonderful people, but in the realm of sports, picking ones teams based largely on winning percentage is a character flaw I can't overlook. It removes these people from the category of "sports fan" in general to me.

With the way seattle has been playing as of late, a cowboys vs seahawks playoff game would be a def good one!
It would be a shoot out! Both offenses are passing great. I got to give Seattle the edge though (seriously) because Seattle's defensive front are on a rampage. 2nd in the NFL in sacks and Patrick Kerney is the NFL's sack leader.

Seahawks edge out the Cowboys 35-31.

will you drop it already???? Fuckin aye man.....

Annnnnyways 2-0 I like what you saying, but for like 2-man tandems for sacks in the nfl Peterson/Kerney lead the league with 22.5 and Ellis/Ware are second with 21.5. I could say look at the teams the Seahawks have been playing, and look at the teams Dallas has been playing, but I wont even go there....
I'm hopin Seattle is for real though....just so we can show them what it really do!!! Matt Flat-on-his-back oh boy!

Damn, I just realized Kerney is leading in sacks...did he have like two monster ass games?

Him and Peterson seem to get sacks in bunches.

EDIT: I see he has two games with 3 sacks. I hate when stats get inflated! Although he does have 3 FF and a pick...and nearly 50 tackles (9th in the league for DE's).

Yeah sacks is kind of a funny stat like that, I think they come in bunches for most guys in the league leaders, I know Mario Williams had 3 last night and is now only 0.5 behind Kerney.

Softy interviewed Kerney this week on KJR and he said for the last couple weeks he's been hooking himself up to a machine that sends some sort of current through his body and makes his adrenaline skyrocket or some shit. whatever he's doing it seems to be working
